Best Paint competition #10
Welcome everyone to the Tenth Best Paint Competition!!

The best paint competition will be open for entrees for two weeks and will close at 12:00 AM November 15 at midnight.

Restrictions: None

In the following two weeks (November 16 to November 30) we will hold the tenth Street/Race Competition. Each month we will hold a Best Paint and Street/Race competition. If you can’t get your bodies done this month, don’t worry there will be plenty more to come!!

The winning bodies may appear in Radio Control Car Action or R/C Nitro!!

RULES for Best Paint:

1) Any body may be submitted to the competition (Truck, buggy, touring car, etc).
2) Any body submitted may NOT appear in another competition.
3) Photo editing the pictures (other than cropping and adjusting brightness/contrast) is highly looked down upon and may result in disqualification.
4) Anyone may enter a body (professional painters are welcome!)
5) Please refrain from insulting bodies in anyway.
6) Must fall within this month's restrictions (Restrictions: None)
7) Only 2 entrees per person.
8) Bodies should be painted within the last 4 months.

Each submission must include the following:
Body manufacturer and size.
Paint used.
Masks used (hand or precut)
Inspiration (could be another paint job).
And of course, a body.

This month Kmac will be judging the Best paint competition.

Each body will be judged by the following criteria (1-bad, 10-excellent):

Difficulty (score 1-10)
Over all design (score 1-10)
Execution (score 1-10)

The photo and background will not be judged. All that is needed is a clean photo that clearly shows the body.

Each month we will place some restriction on all entrees.

December restrictions:
Best Paint- Holiday, winter, new years, etc themes.
Street/Race- Winter rides (trucks, beaters, whats your winter vehicle like?).

GOOD LUCK

Sparx,

You should have kept the rear wheel-well uncut like you did with your Alfa. The Alfa looked more intentional than the Stratus bc the Stratus' wheel-well cuts into the line flow of the design. Leaving the blue "sweep" over the wheel-well and unbroken on the Alfa looks more of a complete and clean design than the normal cut look of the Stratus'. Granted, it might cause a hazard of the body getting tucked in the tire, so i guess function overrides form in this case. Still a great design for racing and street scheme for any shell. Just my thoughts. Laters.

Hey TSR6, I was painting in my dorm room too, but I came up with a way to keep the smell out and my roommate happy. I dunno if your windows are at all the same, but I just put a cardboard box in the window and stuck a fan next to it. It looks like this

http://www.saucetek.com/xanga/kennetht638/paintrig.jpg

Just remember to turn the fan away while you're painting or you'll end up losing a lot of paint.

Nice Idea, I tried something similar..

Problem 1. It was about 31* here in Milwaukee last night.... Brrrrrrr... I had the window open, and a fan in the window blowing out. I also had the curtain blocking the rest of the open window, so it was only where the fan was blowing out that was "open" sucking air under my door, blowing it out the window.

Problem 2. West side of the west tower with winds coming from the west.. :(

Problem 3 - The stuff smells THAT bad..haha

Luckily I don't have a roommate, just 3 other suitemates. :p

Technically its late, but the judge hasnt been by yet. If you judge has already picked a winner and just hasnt posted yet then you can enter next month.

I was referring to the part that the judging will be done because you placed an email. I still see no results.

mab_man20
11-19-2003, 03:42 PM
I was refering to the post being up, not the judging. Sorry for the misunderstanding. :) I wish placing an email was all that was needed to get important things done.

Kmac PMed me, as he mentioned 2 weeks ago (and im sure everyone has forgotten like me) he is out of town until the 21st. If someone PM's me today and offers to judge, then Kmac will judge on friday or saturday when he gets back.

Since I was late on getting it in am I aloud to post again in another competition?

KMac
11-20-2003, 04:21 PM
NOTE: 1DVSRCR entered (3) bodies and I disqualified his lowest scoring car, the first entry, and judged the other two.

Also, this contest was very hard to judge, especially with so many entrants, so go easy on all the complainin' about where I placed everybody. If anybody has any questions I'll give you my honest opinion of what I was thinking when judging each car.

I allowed T-Main's entrant because I'm so late judging the contest and I didn't see any protests about it.

Actually, King, you were tied at 3rd. I loved your car, but the only thing that I thought would have been better (and this is strictly my amateur opinion) was if the fade across the top of the car would have followed the general angle of the flames instead of cutting straight across the flames. I know that may seem too critical, but something had to separate the top few cars and you definitely had a top car. Awesome paint job.

Cool, 3rd, I'll take that :D especially on a body that was painted in less than a day, including the liquid mask drying time. And that I didn't have a plan when I started.

I will try harder for the next one I prommise.

i'll put in a few clues as to what my next body will be.

bio-mechanical streching, with a few skulls, and mabey something tht looks like its out of the movie aliens.

mind you the entire thing will be paint, no magazine ads:p

so you better have something good planned or i may be a judge pretty soon;) :D
