Check out Warehouse Hobbies. Thay have some decent priced RTR's and stand by what they sell. I don't wan tto down anyone but I personally would stay away from the Shockwave. I built mine myself for about 600 bones cheaper and would put it against the shockwave anytime. Take your time and look around, Check out Jims RC Boat Dock as well, you can usually find a good deal there. There are alot of guys here with good advice so ask any and all questions.
Best of luck and please keep us posted on what's up

550... Not many rtr gas boats around? You're kidding right? Pick up the next copy of Radio Control Boat Modeler and thumb through the pages, especially the advertisments ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Dag, shop around. If there's 50 different rtr boats, then you'll get 50 different opinions.
Word on the Shockwave is not good and you're aware of that.
For the money, I'm sold on my WHH SuperG. But thats me.
Here's one for sale. Used RTR. $500 !!! I'd jump all over it if I didn't already have one.http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=4142
