I heard that it's just the magnet wire coming out of the motor and soldered directly to the connector? is that true? I also would like to know how safe is it to bend them more than one time?

also, how hot is safe for the basic 5300? I'm running my Rustler with 21/84 gearing and 8 cells and after the run the 5300 is too hot to touch.

The wires coming out of the motor are the windings from the armature (they´re internally spooled around the rotor with the magnets) these Wires are highly pure copper ones (by 99.9 % Copper) and they should not be bent very often, best thing:

use the motor in ONE Car and leave it there !!
(a few times is possible (but careful no sharp 90degrees bends !!) but keep it to a absolute necessary minimum)

Also the solder points shall not been cut, the wires are isolated with a thin see through layer of some special heat resistant color, it is only very hard possible to resolder it, as the heat of the solder iron is NOT able to get down to the copper !!

the Motors are best treated, when not going over 90 degr. Celsius (as the materials of the magnet will start to destroy at 120 degr.)

And off course you could or even have to, solder the cons directly to the small end of the wire !!

have good fun with them !!
