I noticed a lot of the racers use a Protoform Dodge Stratus body. Whats so special about this one? Better handling?
And what about the HPI dodge stratus? Does it have the same handling?

I need a new bodie (200mm) for my car but my lhs doesn't sell Protoform.

I think it's because it has more downforce than any other RC car body.

Nooooooooooooooo

Someone else has caught 'Stratus Syndrome' I hate those shells, but yes they do give better downforce and less body roll.

They don't provide more downforce. The Stratuses just give the car a more neutral feel (hence it doesn't cause the car to oversteer or understeer).

I read in RCCA (letters section) that they are more aerodynamic. And RCCA is never wrong (Am i right steve?:p ). If I get a rtr nitro tc3 the first thing Id get a spare of is another body. Use the stratus one for racing (if i race) and have like an Enzo Ferrari one for bashing :D.

It's a combination of the downforce and drag, as well as front-rear balance. It's not so much the Stratus itselt but the overall shape of the bodies. Other cars with a similar profile (The rounded, steep nose etc) would work just as well.

I'm sure most people using a Stratus wouldn't be able to tell the different between it and any other 4-door sedan bodies. It's just monkey see, monkey do.

Just to add a bit of kindling to the fire, to be honest the current fashion in bodies is really the Alfa Romeo 156, which can be found from Protoform & Losi. A LOT of people who like to use spools in place of the front diff seem to like that body better than the Stratus because they believe it delivers better front downforce, for more on-power steering(which can help offset the push into corners that a spool can cause).....

youd think they just slap a damn wing in the front like a sprint car ;) and be done with it!
