OK friends and fiends, Check it out. We have cultivated a pretty big scene in just 3 months here at www.1stplacerace.com raceway and we are having our last race of the season Thanksgiving weekend. The 1st annual turkey shootout will be Sunday November 30. Track is open for practice sunrise to sunset the 29th. In the following posts you will see a piece by piece layout of the track. The true scale of the jumps is hard to realize in the photos. 2-6 foot jump faces with 7-20 foot gaps. The track is hard packed in most areas but sand is the primary material in the big berms and jumps. I dug the top 12-20 inches of sand off to get to the hard pack below.... with a shovel :) The lanes are 8 to 20 feet wide and the total racing length of the track is 850 feet. Good lap times are 36-40 seconds. I would like to thank everybody who helped get the track ready..........but Im the only one who worked on the track so props to me.......... :) Can you clear "The Pit"?

Also this might take a couple of days to finish so check back with this thread tues or wed. Ok, you can see the starting area. Nice long straight leading to turn 1. Turn 1 is a 6 foot high banked corner

Now you are looking down the next section, the hardest. The "triple doubles". They are not is a straight line and this section really seperates the good from the really good.

At the end of the triple doubles are turns 2 and 3. They are the tightest 2 turns on the track.

I should note that most of the track goes up/down hill about 10 feet. This pic is turn 4. (going left to right) you pick up good speed in the short downhill straight coming out of turn 3, into this off camber sweeper.

Right out of turn 4 is this 2 1/2 foot jump with a 90 foot flat straight away leading to turn 5

Turn 5 is another 6 foot banked corner with a 90 foot straight to turn 6. Turn 6 has nice mellow banking and leads around to a straight coming the opposite way 70 feet . There is a 1 foot tall, 9 foot long table top in the returning straightaway.

this is almost the same vew as the last pic, but you can see the left turn (7). It leads to a 80 foot straight with the biggest air jump on the track

the biggest gap jump (not the tallest) 22 feet to the down hill landing side.......... turn 8 comes 10 feet from the landing.

the mellow turn 8 leads to these 3 foot tall doubles spaced 7 feet apart

turn 9 is the last turn and you can see beginning of the first of 3 rolling jumps that are 5 feet tall each and cover 60 feet leading to the start/ finish. these rollers are directly beneath the drivers stand.

the last of the 3 rollers (drivers view) and the finish, gas truck, mod truck and 1/8 scale usually clear the pit by a good 6-10 feet.

"Dude, When I get down, Can I use your bathroom?" Thanks for checking out my track. I have been driving rc here by myself for 5 years. Its cool to have a racing scene at my home track now. If you live within 3 hours drive, get down here for our last race. I guarantee you a good race and great time. If you want some room to use that new buggy or truck engine this is the place. We have 2 sponsored (jt racing and Hardcore, Both mp 7.5'S) drivers who are regulars and a bunch of other good dricers here. Rules are loose and if you bring it , we will find a class for you to race it. Brushless are welcome in the mod class. There will be a party for the end of the season after the race at my house (pictured).Thats all folks............

I just scored another 120 ft of the white septic pipe for free :) Now I have enough to do the whole track for the shootout. I hope some people who can come to our races get to see this thread....

Well the Turkey shootout is over, It was a awesome day for racing here. I won the gas truck a main ( 10 min )so it was a productive day as well. To bad only 2 out of 40 racers botherd to stay for the free Turkey dinner and beer I provided after the race. Cooking a 7 course meal for 30 and racing at the same time is hard work :) way to hard to do if nobody cares! I wont be doing this again! Thanks to all the Nevada and California racers that made this season a success. 2004 Season starts March 7th. Contact me thru www.1stplacerace.com for racing info. Next year let's pull out the BBQ and grill some dogs and burgers. I think it would go over better. I forgot about the turkey because everyone bailed out so quickly. If we have the BBQ out by the track people will see it. Maybe it can be "BRING YOUR OWN MEAT". That would keep the cost down.

Thanks again for the race. I have a GREAT time. We''ll be back soon to practice for next year's races.

We are 5-6 hours from vegas. We raced the last race on that layout and I have already re worked the pipe for next season. It will take about a month to re do the jumps for the new layout and I should have the track done by february. The new layout totals over 1100 ft and should take 40-45 seconds per lap. Season info for 2004 can be found in the northern nevada racing thread in this forum. Kinda a long trip for you but we are 60 miles from reno so if you ever go ski tahoe drop by. Thanks Stan

If you come from vegas I could let you stay at my house if you are traveling alone. I will be posting all new track /racing info, updates and pictures in the northern nevada racing thread. Here is 1 pic of part of the new track layout. I still have all of the dirt work to do. Around 10 jumps to build and the back section needs tilled and rolled. Total distance traveled in 1 lap will be just under 950 feet.
