90% of the people at the track i go to use them...

i personally have the integy mod-fashion but use carbide bits its pretty good :)

they all really do the job...

only 2 of us at the track use carbide while the others buy diamond :(

get the xipp version. i have had mine for 1 1/2 years and only had to adjust it once. i did pay extra for the diamond bit.

Good for the price. I suggest the diamond bit as well, but if you have limited experience start with the carbide bit. Once you feel experienced enough, have the bit spaced and setup correctly them move to the diamond bit (not much difference in finish - just more cutting without have to rehone). Can get many years of use out of a diamond bit if used correctly. I purchased a Cobra 2000 and 2000K (stock unit) in 1988 along with the optional diamond bits that have been used up to this point, just purchased an extra bit (mod lathe) in the event the original wears. The stock lathe bit was worn - let someone use it and got it back broke.

Some other items needed are: digital calipers for measuring comm diameter (stop using when diameter is .270 or near .271) permanate marker (to indicate amount of material removed and acts as a lubricant), ball point pen (round over the edges of comm segments-rough edges can cause the brush to bounce) use an Exact knife and motor cleaner to remove the shavings from between the comm segments. Mark one endbell screw and motor can with a red permanate marker to ease in reassembling motor in correct orientation.
