Can a belt TC handle the power

Same as title.Can a belt-based drivetrain handle the power of a decent brushless set-up?If so,can it also handle the punishment added by trying to do donuts and drifting while running the brushless?

Maybe, maybe not. You'll definitely wear out belts a lot faster than usual. Dual belt chassis' will take less punishment than a single belt chassis such as the XXX-S since the load is split up.

It depends on what brushless system you're running too. I've seen belts stretching and snapping on Hacker setups, but not any Novak setups.

I would probably be starting out with a Novak set-up.It sounds like I would want a TC3 instead of the XXX-S I really wanted.I am gonna be really hard on the car,so I would want the drivetrain to hold up.

So far I've had no problems. I've run Hacker, Lehner, 6 cell, and presently running 11.1 volts LiPoly cells. You have to make sure you have the belt tension so it doesn't slip too much when slamming on the brakes. I have yet to replace a belt. I'm running an xxx-s graphite + kit so far.

Will he belt be able to hold up to abuse of rapidly slamming full brake and full power?Also,would it be able to hold up to me trying to impersonate DualBL's TC3 burnout?

I doubt it will hold up to a burn out like that.

BTW, no electric car is gonna perform for you with a title like that! ;)

I've tortured mine. I held mine down on a carpet track and gunned it until all four tires were smoking!!! I hooked it up to an AstroFlight super whattmeter and got it cranking over 90 amps!!!

It all depends on belt tension. The tighter, the more you can abuse it but at the same time, the less efficient the tranny. So, it's all about compromise. I used to race indoor carpet (high high high traction) and constantly slam and the brakes and gas and it held up fine. BUT, I had to have the tension set just a tad higher than I really wanted to have it at so with no motor, it didn't roll forever like the TC3s did. BUT, that belt drag was way less than the motor brushes on the commutator drag.

I use to run my RS4 rally with a lehner 5300 without no belts snapping. But the rear belt did wear out a TON faster that it normally did. Wore it down so that there was literally no teeth left on the belt. And to R&R the belt was such a huge pain, I switched to a TC3 and haven't looked back. Yes it'll run, but it will be more maintenance.
