Man, this thing is absolute insanity. I wanna get you guys some vid and GPS results as soon as the wife and kid give me enough time to get out to an open lot. Whew! I'm still shaking from the power in this little 5 pound truck (fully-loaded with body and 10 matched cells)

looks like fun, how much did the whole setup cost?

Been there, done that. Had mine over 55mph! It is pretty impressive to show people, even on 7-8 cells in the stampede. Turns the tires into CDs.

The 10-cell matched battery pack came to $105 after bars n' stuff. The Comp controller was $270 when I bought it a while back. The Hacker B50 8S motor was around $165. Not counting everything put into the truck, the power plant totals: $540 (including 1 battery pack)

Yea, it is kinda' crazy, especially when you do it to an original-size Pede, with the big ol' tires n' stuff. I had a Lehner 5300 setup on it, when it was stock, and the truck just couldn't take it... even on 7 cells. I think a Novak SS would be the ticket for most cases.

Yeah, the stampede is an awesome truck, but the tranny is a weak link. I put an aluminum idler gear, which works fantastic, but it has to be replaced every so often. The top gear eventually sharpens the back side of the aluminum idler, and when you need hard brakes, the sharp idler gear strips the diff gear. I like the 4200 in the pede, mostly for the runtime. Its plenty fast. I have not tried the novak in it yet, but I bet it would be a pretty nice setup.
How did you lower your pede like that HiAmp? I need to take the silly putty out of my diff so I can get some better track action. I run a Fury 12T right now and it's plenty fast. I think I get around 35 mph with the stock settings.
I am waiting for my steel idler and some other stuff. Here is what I ordered"
RPM ESC mount
RPM gear cover
Steel idler
Pro-Line HD Chevy body
Slipper
Anything else you think I should get to make my Pede better? I want to make a new chassis for it soon. I will use some aircraft grade 7075 that I have laying around.
Also, do you think that a modified plastic motor mount/guard with a heat sink on it will suffice? If not, where can I get the Traxxas motor plate and guard to convert the pede?

All the parts I used are listed on the site here:
http://rcnuts.com/stampede_racer.htm
Basically, I replaced the shocks with Bandit shocks, and set it up as a Rustler body-mounts to lower it. Everything else I did was to lighten it and speed it up.
I avoided modifying the chassis because that would add weight. Same with additional skid plates and other accessories. I can see the need for a metal motor plate, though.
I am not worried about weight at the moment. I have a HUGE bumper on the front.
The 7075 aluminum I am going to use is about 2mm thin and very light. I plan to drill holes through the bottom of it (like your stock chassis holes) so I can shed weight and get rid of heat at the same time.
As far as skid plates go - I will probably makes some. The only reason I am reluctant on making these is the bending issue I have with the 7075. It's SO hard to bend. I may be able to bend it 35 degrees with a SLEDGE HAMMER! Seriously, if I mount it in a vice and SLAM it, I may be able to get the right bend.
Anyhow, have you ever tried front wheels on the back AND front, as well as rear arms on the front? This adds around 1 inch to the overall suspension width. I already ordered some arms, I just need to find some stampede/rustler rims.
Motor plate? I think they stopped making them anyhow. They are on backorder on the Traxxas website. If I am going to make my own, I think I will just make a template and post it on the web for you guys to make your own also. Shouldn't be too hard...

With this extremely short gearing, I just GPSed a speed of 57.2 MPH. With everything in the system still very cool after a full set of matched 3300's, I'm positive it could be geared much taller for faster speeds... perhaps even 70 MPH...

Didn't that bumper come from a radio shack monster truck? I like the scale looks of that ruck.
