my guess would be either a different bore/stroke ratio between the block you bought and the sleeve you have, or same bore and stroke, just a different sleeve thickness.

ok first of all are you running an outboard or inboard 3.5 k&b? i"ll try to help you if i can.ok K&B made a 12mm and a 13mm i have both in outboards. the 12mm block is flat where the piston and sleeve enters the block,if its is a 12mm the sleeve should have notches around the flange of it where the head bolts go through to the block to keep it in place. Now the 13mm should fit into a recessed block this is a newer version of the same motor. Now this could be where your differance is ,it not that its bad just watch out what you buy. hope this helps allen:D
