The twin pipe one rocks man. I'm assuming you have one of your jet drives on that as well?

Got the other SuperG in just now. Same as the other, but its YELLOW !
Stunk up the office because the guy didn't drain the carb.
Will post this weekend.

LN yes he has the Swashdrive jet on that boat, the twin pipes are on there because it's a Conely V-8 (on the website it's the boat they called the "Conception). I was lucky enough to download 2 video's that used to be on his website of the V-8 boat, before they removed them from the site. That thing sounds almost as good as the 455 Olds in my real jet boat. You can definetly hear the V-8 rumble. If I had unlimited funds for something like that, I would build one in a heartbeat. The V-8 might not be quite as strong as the racing Zenoas, but the realism would be worth the trade off for me.:D

No doubt,
I thought that the motor look like one of the V-8's but didn't put 2 and 2 together.
That is a sweet looking boat.

Is that your boat? How fast will it go? What king of engine? How many cilandars, looks like more than one.

Yeah its my boat
Has 8 cylinders is 3.5 cubs and is a 1/4 scale of a 427 chevy (conley V8 ).
Its alot heavier than a Zenoah and is not as quick, but with the stroked crank and the blower i reckon it would blow away the Zenoah engine hands down. Unfortunatly i don't have the funds for an upgrade. Just the sound of it gives me a woody and man its sexy, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.:)

I thought the Conely was based on the Ford 427 engine not the Chevy? That's why it was possible for him to modify it into the 427 SOHC engine. Either way I would still love to have one of those engines with the supercharger to put into something, maybe a Top Fuel drag hydro, or an Unlimited Flatbottom drag boat hehe

Get some vid and mail it to FlyerCAN. I'd love to hear that baby run and see it in action.
Zenoah vs Chevy.......... rice friers vs American muscle:D Never thought I'd see it go down like this:cool:

Got a great deal on it and the guy was very good about shipping.
Came w/radio installed also.
This morning I cleaned it up a little and fired up the engine. The running gear is in good shape.... Prop isn't dinged up, flex wasn't rusty, and could run it tomorrow but I'm lazy and don't feel like messing with the boats any more this weekend.
Wife loves the color as much as I do.:D (we know who'll get the most use out of it right?);)

if you go to http://www,conelyprecision.com and go to movies, they have a video of the 1/4 scale cobra and street rod that both have the V-8

Heah Sprag
If the conley was based on a Ford wouldn't it have the Dissy at the front of the motor ? What ever breed it is off, the engineering that has gone into it is truely awesome !
Has to be the finnest i have ever seen.

The Conley V-8 is based on a Chevy 350 cu.in. right down to the cam which has a Corvette grind on it. When he comes to the Toledo show every year, you can hardly get near his booth with the crowd around it! He also has a Viper V-10 and a double overhead cam V-8 that really is a work of art. Think Indy motor.

Yeah I thought it was strange that the distributor was on the wrong end of the engine for the 427 Ford, what confused me was the website didn't say if it was Ford or Chevy, then seeing the 2 cars he sells being based on Fords. I wonder why he built the 1/4 scale Cobra, and not a Corvette? At least then the engine would be correct to scale for the rest of the car. lol

Maybe he's just a Chevy man! Lots of T-buckets around with the small block Chevy in them. A forward mounted "Distributor" might be a hassle with the blower installation.
Spraguepsycho1
12-15-2003, 06:31 PM
Definetly more of a problem installing the blower with the distributor right up front. I know it's getting almost impossible to even find a manifold mount roots style blower for the small block fords now.

I'm saving all my spare dollars so i can one day afford the stroked crank and blower. Nearly double the HP, should really make the jetsprint launch then. Would be nice if Gary Conley developed Hillbourne injection for the V-8 then it would be a true methanol jetsprint in looks, ah but the blown class will do just fine, if only i could get someone to build another then make a scale sprint track and we are talking one serious scale sport !

Well DD was to excited not to share. (grinning ear to ear) :D
I did not know what to expect from an ebay purchase. Going against my better judgement & own advice to beware of used boats on ebay. But figured for the money I almost couldn't lose.
I got lucky I guess, because not only was the boat in real good condition/shape. I unpacked it, charged it, went to the lake & fueled it & ran it. No fixing, nothing..................
I met with a running buddy and while looking over the boat, we both came up with the same conclusion. That this boat was built & set up by a veteran boater thats been around for a long time.
I was shocked that the engine ran at all, (ebay used boat & all) but it actually runs great. The boat will take some getting use to because of the way it runs, but what a hoot it is. I would say with some minor tweaking & some prop experimentation it will be a mid 40's runner. It was running 30-35 with the carb at a little less than 3/4 open.
Never having a boat of this design is a new challange. Saying that, I will add that being able to put the boat on the shore & launch it from the beach is pretty cool. Also when its time to come in, you can do the same thing. Just drive it back and up on the shore. Never getting your feet near the water!!! I found out that when you run it at yourself and whip it around in a 180, you get a big blast of wind in your face. hehe
