I have an older E-MAXX, and want to widen the suspension. I'm looking at either the Pro-Line MAXX Suspension Kit ($48), or 4 sets of RPM A-Arms ($40 total). This truck is for bashing only, and I need something that will hold up. On Tower Hobbies, it says the RPM A-Arms won't fit the older T-MAXX, is this true about the older E-MAXX too? :)

Get the RPM ones, they look cooler and won't break. You will also need a set of the traxxas tmaxx 2.5 turnbuckles to make the longer arms fit.

I think I might go with the Pro-Line, since it's so complete, and only $8 more. Does the proline kit lower the ride height of the maxx?

You can lower the ride height by putting limiters in your shocks, ideally the arms paralell to the ground. Just cut some fuel tubing and put it on the shock shaft inside the body to limit the shock entension. Also placing the shock in the mounting holes closest to parallel first will preserve as much travel as possible. I perseonally use alloy parts, but my trucks are stressed a lot more than your basher with double brushless, a 247 and a .26 setups. The plastic will be ok for bashing.

And if you brake the RPM arms, you will get another set of what you broke free. And the pro-line ones don't offer that.

I would go with the proline because they work good. i have them on my t-maxx and they are wide and cool

I think I'll go with the Pro-Line since it's cheaper.

I have the Proline kit and it does lower the height quite a bit. It is very strong and well built. Personally the thing I don't like about the kit is that it lowers the height too much. I have found that a higher ride height is better handling for the track and racing. I do like the design of the wide 2.5 stock traxxas suspension arms because of the adjustability of the ride height. However, the arms break a lot. I think I am going to try the RPM stuff.

so even with the shocks in the tallest position, it lowers the truck?

didnt RCCA do some kind of inside look on the Pro-line stuff??

it dosnt get anywhere near the stock height, i was an ad in an old RCCA of the Pro-line wide track arms, they had 3 settings- slamed, low, and medium.

I would go with the RPM stuff- after breaking 4 shocktowers on my 1st Gen maxx (1 stock, and 3 aluminum) i went with RPM and i havent had a problem- even now that they are on my 2.5Maxx, they do just fine.

also their bumpers for it are top-notch too. EXTREAMLY tough!

so you have to get new tie-rods, big woop- get a set of Lungfords and forget about it!

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll go with the Traxxas Widemaxx kit. It's complete and cheap $37. lol, i'm a cheapskate.

the proline kit will widen your maxx and under the proper suspension setting it will lower it for race settings as well. You can adjust so it is the stock ride height if you want. if your just bashing and not really doing any racing i would go with the RPM arms because they are much stronger and you have that free parts guarantee is great.

It really depends on what you want. Durablility or performance.
