Are you planning on racing then or just playing? They are both way outdated, the designs have been around longer than the trees that they made the kits out of. :D

LOL! great analogy Ron.
If you like building, and are price restricted, then they will both be fun play boats. Keep in mind, the cost of the kits are misleading as far as total money invested. The motor, pipe, radio, and all of the running gear are by far where most of your money will go to complete it. As far as ease of running and setup, the quicky 40 is not for beginners to say the least. If you want a race boat, go with one of the more modern designs for sure. The sorcerer would be a better choice for fun, although the quickie 40 has more speed potential, if set up properly. that's the challenging part.

This will be my first boat and I wanted something to both play with and race. I'm also thinking of the "Wild Thing" .21 mono and scratch build it. I have much experience with planes. Thanks for the reply and hope you guys have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Joel,
Just for thought, have you considered a .12 outrigger? www.firefighterboats.com (webiste got hacked).
Also I believe Ron O is working on one.
Not so much $'s and easy to build it seems.
