i bought a savage 25 a couple of weeks ago and I am starting to have problems.
We broke it in acording to the instructions which I thought was not correct, so I tuned the hi-speed needle and ran it for a tankof gas. I got the hi speed to my liking and wentto the low speed needle. as accordingto the manual you close it up and open it back 2 1/2- 3 turns which doesnt work. now ithardly runs iif it even starts. what do you think i need all the advice I can get. if it's the engine i might get another engine after christmas.

thanks for your advice and merry christmas

reset both needles to the factory settings, then lean the high speed needle if necessary and then the low speed

thanks in advance and hope u get it fixed.. most likely u just need to tune it. also check the back plate to see if its tight and locktight its loose. check the cooling head to see its thats loose, ur carb could be loose also

you might have turned the LSN too hard and it could break the tip of the needle, try to disassemble the carb and do a little inspection

I think I had the same problem. The link to HPI that Kent gave is probably your best bet. The thing to remember is that the LOW speed needle uses the IDLE screw for it's point of reference. So now that it's all messed up, do this. Adjust the idle screw to the 2mm factory setting. Actually mine idled too fast at 2mm so I adjusted to about 1mm. THEN CAREFULLY turn your low speed needle in all the way until you feel it bottom out (against the Idle needle). Then back out your LOW speed needle 2 1/2 to 3 turns. Now adjust your high speed needle by turning it it all the way in until it bottoms out, then back out 3 or 4 turns. That should get you back in the game. Worked for me anyway. Good luck, hope this helps.

There is your first problem, you didnt break it in correctly. At this point, anything could be wrong with it. Best you can do is reset the needles to factory specs, put a new glow plug in, and hope for the best.

Be sure the screws on the backplate aren't loose. There was a problem with them not being tightened at the factory. I checked mine after I read about it and sure enough they were loose after only a couple of tanks. It's been adressed by HPI, but you should still check.

but you should still check the bottom of the box there is some kind of marking that says they were addressed

a red x should be at the bottom of the box

I love my savage25. It'll pull wheelies if you tune it perfectly. The engine is hard to start sometimes but its also 45 degrees outside where I live.

Yeah, cold weather is definatley makes it harder when it comes to starting up and getting your engine up to a good operating temp.
