Like most things it depends on how much you want to spend and what are you using them for. If you're bashing, they're better than stockers. If you want to race or have put a big motor, all alum, extended chassis setup, use 1/8 scale shocks like UE recommends, only 4 shocks. Or threaded body alum shocks, I have reserviors on one truck, but the regular threaded ones are not much different. It's more setups- oil, spring rates, hole size and number on internal disk.

I think Traxxas Big Bores are overpriced for what you get... an aluminium reproduction of the crappy stock Traxxas shocks.
Save yourself some money and get yourself some of the Dynamite/Losi shocks. Bottom loading so there's NO chance of blowing a cap. Shock bodies are also long, making for lots of oil capacity. Plus, they're cheaper than most anything out there.
Unless you go into 1/8-scale or a *quality* resevior shock (not cheap Integy or eBay sourced resevior shocks), I wouldn't choose anything over the Dynamite/Losi shocks.

Where do you get the 1/8 shocks for the tmaxx?
Nevermind I found it. How good are unlimited engineering's supershocks? They are 1/8 scale, so do you get as much suspension travel as a savage?

i've got the big bores and they are excellent. The stock composite shocks gave me alot of crap so i went with the big bores and they have held up great! No problems what so ever.

I poped 2 of the 4 caps off the rear of my .15 tmaxx jumping one day and I had a 2 of these that I replaced the 2 shocks that I poped the caps off of, since I lost the little rubber peices that go inside the shock caps I didn't want to use them again. This is what I have in the rear to replace the 2 stock shocks that I took out.

Duratrax Shock Set Rear Maximum MT (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRP12&P=7)
I got them from my buddy, he said the only thing good about the MT was the shocks so he gave them to me :> free is always good. I have the fronts ones to but they are to small so I just used some spacers that have set screws on them on the front 2 shocks, Totally eliminated my shock issues. now I just need width :>
