Hello, I just picked up a 60" Expresscraft MTI Cat for a present to my self. And I was debating on which engine to use and how I could have dual Props.

I was thinking maybe two smaller CC engines (23 or so) turning dual props.

Then I was also THinking about a larger (40-60cc) engine turning dual props.. (I saw on the Expresscraft Website a mechnism that makes a single engine turn dual props.)

Please let me know what you think.

I would go with the one engine turning two props set up myself.
Our old saying is double engine=double trouble.

Yea that's what I was thinking. But with my RC Car experience Gas is so much easier to operate then Nitro. And this 60" Cat is heavy!!! And I figured that two is usually faster then one. But if it's a 50cc engine it might be faster then two 23cc???

How about a 50G Marine Pollini from MHZ:
http://www.mhz-engines.com/database/generate.php?output=filter&generateID=39
pumps out 10 hp....

and then you could drive a twin Z drive though two counter rotating props with their gearbox...:

The Engine looks good but it's 800Euro... That's alot of $$$!!!

Where can I find that Dual Prop Gearbox? And about how much is it?

BTW- I'm still looking for suggestions on engines????

Thanks!

The exclusive Distributor is MHZusa
MHZusa@comcast.net
Website will be up soon

www.MHZusa.com (http://www.MHZusa.com)

Prices of the direct for Germany sale are not relevant. Importation fees and shipping costs seem to dictate pricing

2 gas engines, if set up optimally, can POSSIBLY have a higher top speed than a single. They do typically have more accelleration. Again, optimally means correct total package. That doesn't mean a twin is automatically faster than a single. Power-to-weight-to-hull drag ratio, RPM and torque powerband of the chosen plant(s), and PROPPING will be the determining factors. I suggest you try contacting the hull manufacturer and get some recommendations, and continue to search the web for advice on similar gas big-hull setups using twin screws. Use other hobbyists experience to your advantage.

I'd ask that question HERE (http://pub208.ezboard.com/bjimsrcboatdock).

have fun ;)

Hey, the Quickdraws look very good. But if I need two (2x1100) then, $2200 for engines? I don't mean to sound like a cheap ass though...

anyways there was a 68" Cat on ebay about two weeks ago that had Triple Zenoah's modded by BH hanson.

So should I just stick with 2-3 standard Zenoah 26's or Go all out?

Well this is my Decision..

A Zenoah G62... It is actually more powerfull then Two G26's

But does anyone know where I can get parts for the 62 and does anyone know if I buy the G62 for Planes and just get a watercooled head will it be the same as a Marine G62?

Thanks!

Important Question

Will the smaller Zenoah water Cooled heads (23,26,231 etc) fit on the 62 and will the Engine mounts fit aswell..

Thanks!

the power-to-weight of the g62 doesn't compare to the newer zens. IMHO, 2 g260's is the way to go. Or a big QD with a dual geardrive setup if you want 2 props. I feel you'll be dissapointed with the g62. But that's just from hearing from others. I have no personal experience with the g62.

thanks for the insite. I'm not really too terribly set on what set-up I'll be using.

Can anyone recommend me a pipe for the g260?

Thanks as usual

If you are looking at bang for buck, contact B H Hanson. About a year ago I bought a USED G23 from them a lot cheaper than a new one. It has been reconditioned to new specs, so I figured what the heck. They also carry exhaust systems for everything they sell. They also have three different levels of hop ups, so you can just about get any power level you need. Also, if you buy an engine from them, they may give you a discount on exhaust parts.
