Building a 60' cat from Vern Kilmer (I hope these things are not leadsleds) and I need a radio. Nothing top of line but something that will give me good distance. One for sale on ebay, stated new with recever and nicad bats, 2 sets of frequencies. Futaba Skysport 6A FM 35mhz mode 1 FP-6VA-MODE1. Just getting in to this and have no idea.
I do have a traxxas nitro vee and have a problem now with the radio or receiver. Boat has been swamped before . I dried it out under a lamp for days but now I have no distance. 50ft. at most. What gives?

The 35mHz radio would be Illegal to use for ground vehicles. Only 27, 49, and 75mhz radio equipment is allowed for Ground Vehicles. I would get some kind of PCM radio...

Answer to your 2nd question, you're lucky that it works at all. I spent a lot of money buying recievers until I finally got a brain and bought some Aeroplate from Aerotrend. A squirt or 2 on the reciever plus some in the servos saved me a small fortune. There are other brands available like Corrosion X and The Stuph that will do the job equally wel. The price is usually less than the cost of a cheap servo and will do a lot of equipment. I've done at least 6 boats and have plenty left. Do not use WD-40 types of products, they won't work and can ruin curcuit boards. Afterwards I still put my recievers in a plastic bag (actually disposable baby bottle liners), for extra security and zip tie it shut.

i would think the airplane radios have more channels then what u need.. all u need is 2 or 3 channels and the mzh is wrong for ground use..
