It should be done in the next few weeks. EVERY SINGLE PART has come from eBay except for the engine (garage sale) and paint.

All in all, with shipping included I have spent less than $200 for a fully stocked boat with spares.

Hull ( I think it's a Jet Stream ) with engine : $45.00 w/shipping & duty.

Sold the engine for $32.00 with shipping so $17.00 for the hull & stand.

Engine (used Novarossi .20): $10.00

Dumas Hardware kit (NIB): $33.00 w/shipping

A dozen assorted props (plastic and BC) : $18.00 w/s&H

Paint $10.00 (canadian tire money so basically free)

Radio (brand new Futaba) : $58.00 w/s&h

Assorted glues and epoxy : $12.00

Finishing bits (tank, line, batteries etc) : $15.00

For a grand total of around $173.00 Canadian.

I have no idea as to how it's going to run, but I don't think that I could beat that price again.

I'll get some pics up in the new year once it's together.

I've been effectively BANNED form my work bench until Januay. :(

Fuel? Who needs fuel?;)

I've got that part covered. It's one of those things that I'd have to buy for ANY boat/car/plane so I don't factor that into the costs of building. I could still leave it on the shelf and not pay any more, but it'd still be fully functional.

I am planning to run it with 20% though. At least until I can get it dialed in and get a feel for it. But that won't be for a LOOONG time. June at least.:(

I am going to try to get some pics soon. I don't have a scanner or digital camera (yet: hint to wife ;) ;) ;) ) but I hope to have that solved soon ( again hint to wife). I usually can borrow my sister-in-laws, but she's not around for a while so it'll have to wait.

Besides, this is still kind of a secret in my house. My kids know about it 'cause they come into my work area and ask questions. My wife however has learned it's best to stay out unless she would like to be recruited for some task, usually cleaning. The kids don't mind as they're just happy to be involved and can tell their friends that they helped daddy build it.

So...at this point the "offical" plan in the house is that I'm going to be getting a Firefighter .12 kit and Blizzard hardware in the new year.:D :D :D

Can't show up with another boat now and blow that one now can I?

Its taking all I can do not to buy any more. Hell, I've got two new ones that haven't seen water. Wait... make that three including the family boat and almost bought my 5 month old one today.... (she'll grow into it);)

I've got 5 1/2 year old twin girls who have requested their own boat. I'm hoping that the whining will get to the point where we have to give in. Of course I'll have to build it, break it in and trim it. Oh and I can't forget show them how to run it.;) ;) ;)

Now we have another one on the way so with any luck I'll have one ready for the end of next summer so he/she doesn't feel left out.:D

We just have to keep in mind that it for the kids, and anything for the kids is worth it.

Ah....such sacrifices we parents will make.

Thanks Bufferoo,
On being absolutely correct. If we don't do it for the children there would be an empty void that I just could not fill. Now you got me thinking. since I have the Brady Family (5 kids) that equals five boats....... Now, If I include myself in the children total that would make six kids. Six kids = Six boats

I don't know what she is talking about.......... I'm right on the money.... :D

Ummmmmmm, that is untill I finish the hydro

Ahhh....now we're speaking the same language. How's about this little nugget which I am proud to say that I was actually able to insert into a "discussion" about my many hobbies....

If I have a skill and knowledge it is a shame to let it go to waste. If you don't use it, you loose it. I HAVE to keep building them or else I might forget HOW to.

My wife didn't buy that one, but boy oh boy did it feel good to say it witha straight face. She did appreciate my attempt thought.

I figure that with 10-15 more years of this I might be able to waer her down to the point where it's just not worth the argument.;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

New one on this though...the kids told me that Santa has to bring me a bigger boat this year so that I can be happy.

Bless their little hearts, the angels.
