Yesterday I drove my E-Maxx for the first time in weeks to do some GPS runs. I took it down to the street and started driving, waiting for the GPS to get a lock. When the E got only 15-20 feet away from me, it started glitching really bad, turning, accelerating, braking as it liked. I thought maybe the powerlines were interfering, even though I had driven it there for 3 years without incident. I took it back to the house and tried it there. Same problem. I was using the stock radio, so I swapped in the FM radio from my clod. Same problem, and now I'm very confused. I also noticed that one of the motors was smoking after the truck accelerated hard. They both still run though. I'm thinking EVX again. (I've already had to return it 7 times) Any help would be greatly appreciated. The E-Maxx is pushing it's luck right now and it's about to run out...

Thats gotta be an ESC problem. You switched radios so you know its not the receiver. Dude i give you props to put up with your EVX like that. 7 times?! Damn I would just trash it haha.

An ESC will not cause a motor to smoke. A motor shorting out can cause the SC/reciever to glitch however. If you've been through that many ESC's there is almost no statistical chance that the ESC is the problem...replace the motors, and make sure the wires to them are not shorting out, and that the proper capacitors are installed.

Well I don't have any motors to swap in, so could I remove the smoking motor and just run it on one motor for a minute to see if it still glitches? As for the EVX, even though it said "replaced unit" on the return form from traxxas, I know this is the same EVX from the past 3 returns. How do I know this? I made a mark with a sharpie on the case. These are the same motors I got the truck with, and they have the capacitors installed.

Check your motor connections and replace the smoked motor. Make sure there is no metal anywhere near the reciever, and look at the all the wires and make sure there is no exposed wires. Hope this helps
