I just recently picked up an Expresscraft MTI 60" Cat.

I need some help on Running Gear for my New Beast. I plan on running either a Large engine turning two counter-rotating props or Dual 23-30cc engines turning two counter-rotating props.

Here are the questions.

1) What size Rudders will I need?
2) Can anyone recommend some rudders? (Website Please!)
3) Can anyone point me in the direction of some good struts (remember I need the vertical 1/4" Struts)
4) Props? What size and make and where to get them?

Thanks a bunch,
Todd

This big cat has twin JohnDeere engines (made by homelite), twin ballentine drives and one rudder extended WAY back.

So, I'm jst going to get one large 62cc Zenoah turning dual counter-rotating props.

So I will have to wait for the Gearbox to come in..

(Geeze can't you tell I've only had outboards so far  :D )

man i love outboards thats my favorite type nothing runs better than a tunnel hull to me anyway. take a look at my newest boat ,posting bandit boats.i have a few pics of it on there.not that its good to do but sometimes i love to see a tunnel get air born not too many r/c boats can catch air like a tunnel does.needless to say i am also an outboard man. i do have an inboard outrigger but i dont run it as much as do the tunnel

Since you mentioned tunnel hulls I have a 56" tunnel with an outboard made by Outboard Innovations. The question I have is has anyone ever heard of them? The outboard is scaled after a miniature Mercury and looks great but not my cup of tea so I am going with an inboard on the tunnel. Maybe in the future someone would be looking for an outboard unit? ;) Maybe some of you guys could send me some pictures of your tunnels to Polo30@Ameritech.net so I can get some ideas of how to finish her. When i first got the hull it was put together with silicone adhesive and eventually blew apart so now I need to rejoin the deck to the hull, any suggestions on what to use? Any help from you pros would be GREATLY appreciated!:D

Safe-Cracker,
How you been doing man! Long time no chat. We used to talk a lot over at rcuniverse.

As far as the glue for your boat.. ever try some 30 minute epoxy from the lhs? Its great for high stress areas (rails, transoms) and water proof.

for the outside, one of the gurus will have to help you.

What's up dude! Merry X-mas.....So you are sat to use 30 min for the hull to deck seam? The previous owner didn't even sand the gelcoat before using silicone. I saw a Dumas changed over to an inboard with great results (more stability). So Doubledog what do you have? :D

How about starting a thread on bonding the deck. I know the 30 minute will work from experience and not let you down. Used it for years in all types of applications from joining the wings on my planes to attaching the firewalls for the engines. It'll work, but I'd prefere hearing from these guys what they recommend.

Whats the hull? Wood, glass? When you start the thread show us a photo.

Btw, these are some of my boats

Cool boats! So you running both or just the yellow one? I will start up a post asking that question and by the way it is a glass hull. This is a 1/4 scale F1 seabold Tunnel Hull. I have the outboard for it too! The thing is I want to make it into an inboard for the hell of it. The outboard is so bulky and heavy. I think it will be a rocket without all that weight.:D
