i run an XTM conversion with their .247 engine and was wondering about some ideas to protect the head. I tried the zip ties through the head but they just keep pulling out. A roll cage seems bullet proof but i don't like the idea of adding wieght when the truck weighs nearly 13 pounds now. I guess the best advice would be to keep the tires planted on the down side...just to eliminate any comments from the smart#%*es out there:D . Just wondering what some of you guys do to protect your head. TIA

You should just buy a body...best and most simple solution..if you dont want to paint one...get the atomic pre-painted ones..they look nice and they protect ur stuff

You do use your body right? Becauce if you dont then it would be pretty stupid risking any of the vital parts on your truck if you have a bad crash. Either get a body or rollcage to protect it or its your loss if you happen to break something....

I do run it with a body but the head sticks up through the bed...guess i have to switch to something like a hummer or SUV style to cover things up more.:(

What wrong with the head sticking up through the bed? The stock Tmaxx body is like that. Do you not like the way it looks or something? Its better to be safe than sorry when it comes to protecting your engine even if you think it may seem a little funny..

The way it looks to me is fine. The simple fact that it sticks through is the reason it gets the crap kicked out of it evry time the truck flip over...nothing between it and the ground. That's the need for the suv body.

I don't know if this will work, but what about those plastic things they make to put on the 1/8 buggy engine heads?
