ok i just want to know if all the t-maxx owners spend like 10x more time fixing their t-maxx then running it, like me, and what have you broken on your t-maxx and how?
I have only had my t-maxx for 2 weeks and i have broken rear body posts, 4 shocks, drive axel, easy start motor, gas tank, and my AA batteries froze one day. but my friends has a tmaxx and we have killed it many times things like blown-up metal spur gear, easy start motor set on fire, trx .15 revved to the point where it burned the piston and sleeve which are a reddish purple color now(motor is very dead), stripped front diff, and a few other things. i'm sure alot more things would have broken but most of his truck is aluminum.

you don't run your truck in a skate park and when your not jump anything you can see at full speed. If u havn't broken alot of parts then u havn't seen the potential of the t-maxx.

when you set the potential of the t-maxx. then why are you complaining, stuff will break.

i'm not complaining at all. i enjoy fixing my t-maxx and breaking it is even more fun. i just want to know what other ppl have done to their t-maxx.

Driving your Maxx like that of course your going to break parts. It don't matter how tough or what truck you have, something will eventually break. I have a Maxx and drive it at a skate park too but i'm careful with it too, I dont do things that I know will break something.

I don't have a maxx, but i don't get how they break so much parts. I race buggys, and maxxes are always messing us up.
I DO NOT HATE T-MAXXES. I JUST DON"T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR ONE.

the reason they break so much is because they weigh 10-20lbs.
mine is just over 12lbs

The only time my TMaxx really breaks is when I let an inexperienced driver ride it or if I run without a body on it then do something stupid.

I do not do much X-Treme sport driving or racing because it is just a basher. I do race other R/Cs and break them often when I run too hard or make a mistake in judgement while taking a jump or coming out of a turn too hot.

I have never broken anything due to my driving abilities. Rather I think that it is due to the fact that I'm driving it in the winter and well cold+platic+spool+stress=FAILURE

I've broken:

stub axle "left side rear"
tie rod "right side rear"
axle carrier "left side rear"
Front body post "right side"

This stuff happend all within the same week, partially it had to do with the temps outside. and the other part had to do with the fact that I was trying to push it harder than I usually do "go faster, jump higher" and I was runnin' it a bit leaner than I usually do to get some more snap out of the motor to show it off to my buddy that I'm trying to get into the hobby. So I guess it was all worth it. I just wonder if I would have aluminum or rpm arms and titanium tie rods and cvd's all the way round if I still would have broke the parts that I did ?

since you are running in the winter i'm sure something would have broken, thats the same reason why most of my stuff broke, its too damn cold outside some of the times i broke stuff on my maxx its was like minus something outside. my friends truck on the other hand broke from just plain abuse and it was alot of fun running it.

That is why I am leaning more towards aluminum hop up parts. during winter the platic stuff gets real britlel if the rpm stuff does where as aluminum does get britle but I think that I would have better luck with part life while running my truck in the winter with aluminum vs plastic. But as of right now I just buy the factory tmaxx parts to replace what I broke. but since I have .15 when I break that stuff I replace it with the 2.5 stuff and that has seemed to be working better now if I can just lay off the throttle when it is super cold outside.

A little fyi for you guys that are running in the winter. I took a pair of mittens "gloves without the fingers on them" and cut the side on each one then sewed them together so that I could put the transmitter in their and then slip my hand in to. keeps my hand and the radio warm when it is really cold out :> I'm trying to figure out a way to enclose the chassis on the truck to use the heat from the motor to heat the electronics :>

the only thing u really need in aluminum is lower braces, skid plates, front buldhead, shock towers(maybe), and shocks(only because the good ones are aluminum. rpm a-arms are sufficient because the shocks absorbe most blows that the a-arms take, unless u like to clip walls with one wheel. aluminum bumpers seems to be overkill unless u get them for free, and if u get aluminum body posts then if u land in a way to break them the shock tower will break instead which is much worse. also the more aluminum the more the truck weighs and the slower u go which isn't fun.

I have checked out the rpm stuff don't they have a lifetime warranty on their stuff and they say that it is "Indestructible" or is rpm just like anything else if it breaks you just have to buy another one ?

And I need width, what is the setup to go with to get the most width out of your maxx? I don't care if it is aluminum or plastic I just want to know what is the easiest way to obtain width. I've seen so many maxx that look so much wider than my .15 tmaxx does and I know that the new 2.5 max is wider but by how much ? 1" 2" and where is that measurement taken from ?

I've broken
-front bulkhead
-front skid
-countless body posts
-3 shock shafts
-2 drive axles

over all the t-maxx is a durable truck and i dont mind breaking stuff because then i have an excuse to replace it with aluminum!

Jackyl

Have you or anyone else broken any of the aluminum parts that you guys have bought ? or bent the aluminum so bad that it wasn't able to be used again ?

keep the a arms plastic and keep it rubber side down and u wont have that much breakage

maxxes have a problem in design the truck bottoms out be4 chassis scraping giving it one more way to waste an a arm unlike other trucks that will chassis scrape and have travel to spare(like my MT2) this leads to broken a arms on big jumps taller shock towers would fix thislower it to 3.25" ground clearance ought to remove the problem

to get your tmaxx to be wider u should buy the new tmaxx 2.5 a-arms they are .5" longer and get rims that have a different offset, the mountering part on the rim is in the middle of the rims width rather then on the outside.

The RPM arms will be replaced for free (you pay shipping, though) if you break one. This does not include normal wear and tear, though.

As for making your Maxx wide, you can keep the narrow setup and go with the OFNA 17mm adapters. Combined with OFNA Dominator wheels (which are sized the same as Maxx wheels) you will get about two inches more width than the 2.5 Maxx. Combined with the longer 2.5 suspension, this combo is so wide, it's an entire tire's width wider than the standard Maxx.

Thats crazy wide. I saw the new 2.5 maxx rpm a-arms today at my LHS when I went to buy my new OS CV-RX for my t-maxx I think I'm gonna buy them once I get the money. :)

What about the 19mm adapters and pirate rims ? Think you could make a list of items that are needed to do this and put links down with it and prices and post it up here. this is waht I have been looking for.

Pirate rims come in both 17 and 19mm hexes so the same adapters that I used to fit Dominator wheels will work with MP wheels. I think that the MP wheels will make the T a little wider still from what I posted above.

Ok, now wich ones are the ones that you used?

Here are the items that I am looking at I was going to buy them but then I saw that the shaft size was different. so let me know about what I should buy. I want to stick with my short suspension setup now and get the hubs and rims and then later on upgrade to the 2.5 suspesion. I want to get as much width as I can out of as little as I have to spend to do it. so I want to use the tires that came with my tmaxx is this possable?

here are the items.

Ofna Hex Wheel lHub 8mm Axle (2) $10.99 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBZP1&P=0)

Ofna Wheel Hub 17mm (2) $7.59 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXABC5&P=0)

Ofna Wheel Hub Hyper 7 RTR Pro (2) $9.99 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCVT7&P=0)

Ofna Monster Wheel 17mm White (2) $13.79 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTG35&P=0)

Well let me know what items are the correct items to purchase to make this work.

thx.

No, I was talking about these adapters. (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXE06&P=7) They allow you to use any 17mm hex wheels with your T-Maxx. That includes 17mm 1/8 buggy, Monster Pirate (17mm), Dominator, and a whole lot more wheels. Dominator wheels will allow you to use T-Maxx tires because these wheels are the same size as T-Maxx wheels but they have a lot more positive offset than T-Maxx wheels, which makes the truck wider.

Ah I looked at those pcc, thx. I'm still wondering about the rims. The rims that I have the link to look like they have some serious offset but are the rims that will fit the tmaxx original tires? what are the rims that your talking about that will fit the tmaxx tires.

thx.

Back to what this thread was about i broke a damn rear turnbuckle today i was sooo pissed off because it was right when i went out. I really don't like running on pavement at all, it's so unforgiving when u mess up. I was just driving around in a parking lot to get my steering trim set up and I puched it, I tried to break when I came to a curb it wasn't working so I turned the truck quicky and it smashed into the curb backwards and I heard a loud crack. :(

LMAO. I shattered my T-Maxx fuel tank to bits today at the skatepark. I was doing vertical jumps and i landed one upsidedown. Oh well i had fun. Longest runtime yet other then on flat land.
