Seems like there are a LOT of RTR cars and trucks out there. The problem is that you wind up having to buy the controller every time you buy a car.

If I want to buy an Airtronics M8 to use with ALL my vehicles, How does one get around not having to buy another controller with every car? Build one from scratch?

Thanks:confused:

Buy the kit, reciver, esc and motor. it will cost more than the RTR because a m8 reciver is like 80 bucks.

Well i would defentley consider buying a good FM radio as its one of those things thats universal between all R/C cars, like a charger and batteries its not worth getting the cheap stuff. The M8 can hold 10 different profiles which is great when switching cars. But you will however need to buy seperate recievers ($90.00!) for all of your cars, the alternative is to keep swapping the reciever in-between your cars. Though it would save money, i dont think you want to have to thread the antenna wire through the post every other day! I believe however Novak makes a cheaper reciever that works with Airtronics radios.

The alternative is to purchase a Futaba radio. There recievers are about half the price at $50.00. However they do not come with crystals, while the Airtronics recievers do. I wouldlt so much mind swapping crystals between cars than an entire reciever (or $90) for that matter. I ended up going with a Futaba radio.

Just buy the RTR and then sell the stock radio.

With RTRs, obviously the kit is a better deal in many cases, but with some vehicles, IE E-Maxx and Tamiya Pajero XB, it's RTR or nothing, so you have to live with it.
