we run the novak ss 5800 system, in limited mode,in 1/10 6 cell and oval trucks, and the system hesitates at times when getting back on the throttle out of the turns. this is a big problem when running oval as you get rear-ended and/or the chassis unloads causing you to spin. i have tried all sorts of gears and can not seem to correct this problem. i have ordered 2 150mah rx packs to see if that helps. have any of you experienced these sort of problems and if so how did you correct it???

please help!!!

I`ve had the same thing..

I noticed if you hold it off the ground and give it full throttle, you can see and hear the rev limited (for the sportsman mode) kick in and out.. this is the effect you are feeling on the track..

Its almost as if the last 30% of the throttle is in effective, which would kinda make sense.. feels weird to start with

That's exactly what it is doing. Modes 5 and 6 are limited to 24,000 RPM, and when it hits that, it slows itself down, the speeds back up, slows down, speeds up, etc.. A really annoying, and pretty dumb way of doing it. Just cap it at 24,000 and maintain 24,000 instead of going up and down.

Hi Guys, Maybe I can clarify the RPM Limiter a bit.

The RPM limiter works perfectly smothly if you come up to the RPM limit slowly. Now this is not the case when you actually drive a car.

The ramping up and down comes from the fact that as the Motor reachs the RPM limit, it starts to slow, the drive train in the car continues to accelerate slightly. Like a flywheel. As the motor hits the limit the ESC backs down power, the lag in the drive train takes a second so the motor stays at the RPM, so the ESC backs power way down. Then the drive train catches up, and the ESC has to burst power to get back up to the RPM. I hope this makes sense, it's a bit tough to explain.

If you take the motor out of the car, or just remove the pinion, you can creep up slowly through the RPM range, and notice no ramping at full throttle, but if you smash to full throttle the ramping is very evident. The ramping is caused by the Inertia of the rotor as well.

Oval Racer- I'm not sure if that is the case with your system, but if you cannot resolve the situation please drop us a line.

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES, I HAVE SENT SYSTEM TO NOVAK FOR INSPECTION/REPAIR.

CHARLIE, I FEEL AS IF YOU ARE ONTO SOMETHING W/ YOUR STATEMENT. THAT IS SORT OF WHAT I WAS THINKING MAY BE HAPPENING. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT JUST RUNNING MODIFIED MODE IN THE FUTURE, BECAUSE WE ARE ALL HAVING THIS PROBLEM.

I personally see no possible use for the "stock" modes. Other than for a newbie learning to drive, which most newbies aren't gonna have a BL setup anyway, why would you wanna run slower?

I AGREE SPEEDMUNKEY, BUT THE GENERAL CONSENSUS OF THE DRIVERS IN THE CLASS WAS TO RUN IN LIMITED MODE SO THATS WHAT WE DID!!!

BELIEVE ME, I HAVE BE LOBBYING FOR MODIFIED MODE, BUT THEY SAY THE STRAIGHTS ARE TO LONG AND THE TURNS ARE TOO TIGHT OF A RADIUS??????(FLAT CARPET)

I HAVE RAN THE PAN CAR IN MODIFIED MODE AND IT WAS BALLISTIC AND FUN!
ON THAT NOTE: DO I NEED TO GEAR DOWN AS MUCH TO RUN MODIFIED LIKE YOU DO W/ BRUSHED SYSTEMS?
