What do I have to do when spraypainting nylons? Do I need primer or anything?

Priming would probably help. I tried painting rims once and it didn't work too well; it ended up chipping off like the chrome plating in crashes.

Don't bother spray painting nylon rims; paint will never stick or last. Instead, dye them with Rit brand clothing dye. The white nylon Traxxas rims work really well for this and the color lasts forever.

try sanding the rims with some fine grit sandpaper , clean and paint them again ....
