rock crawling tips

I want to make a rock crawler,any tips.

I think the biggest thing would be articulation. I'm guessing it's going to be an electric? If so, get Motors with a lot of Low End Torque. I really dont know what else, the articulation thing is def. the most important.

soft suspension, big tires, solid axles, lots of articulation and just enough speed that you can get up decent wheelspin on the tough obstacles...

The maximum I would shoot for is where the axles are twisted to about 75 degrees from each other, max. If you go over that amount you have gone too far, IMHO.

Electrics rule for crawling.

Torque is a simple matter of gearing. That is the most common misconception when it comes to high-torque and high-HP engines/motors, even on real cars. An engine/motor that makes little torque but has a lot of HP can be made to put a lot of torque to the wheels by simply gearing it lower. A high-torque engine/motor needs to be geared up to make more HP.

You cant make an engine/motor have more torque or more Horse power by just changing the gears. You can only maximize the use of the torque (by gearing it lower). An engine/motor with a lot of horse power can be geared up to make the car go faster because it has enough power to get it up to speed quickly.
