Hi all !

Any advises for a good steering servo for a Savage SS that fit on my futaba receiver ?

Hitec 645MG (metal gear) is one of the least expensive but pretty strong for steering the Savage. Just be sure to buy the one with the Futaba connector on it.

While you're at it, replace the cheap servo saver with a Kimbrough #124 (black, made for MTs). You'll thank yourself later on for it.

I got, for my t, a Tower Hobbies TS-70 super-torque, metal gear, ball bearings, and it works great, I got one of the large kimbough servo savers and my servo seems to still have to much power for the servo saver. They are only $38 and have a universal connector so it works with the futaba J.

suposedly xtm racing is equiping the new mammoth truck with a 170 oz torque servo.

and I also hear that the servo costs about 35$ by it self. I have yet to see it for sale at that price tho.

170 oz of torque is way better than my high teck servo at 110 oz, wich I paid 40$ for at my local hobby shop.

if I can find where to get the xtm servo id get one, even if it was 45$ 170 oz torque is more than enough for a mt.

If you want a better servo saver you could get the mp servo saver. I am still waiting for my ss (febuary 21:D) but I heard it was a really good mod and that is what I'm putting on mine. Look on savagecentral.com for it.

the monster pirate servo saver (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXABH5&P=Z) set-up is the ideal way to go. i installed mine about 1/2 gallon ago and i love it. i use the hobbico cs-70 servo (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXANT4&P=7) with that saver. that servo has over 100 oz. of torque at 4.8 volts!!!

To make it easier to find, it's http://www.savage-central.com (with a hyphen). Lots of great info for the Savage there, especially for various mods. It's pretty cool because it's a board dedicated only for HPI Savage owners/lovers.

Just don't bail on this forum after you go there. Gotta help out those on this board with questions on the Savage. I like talking and learning more about other vehicles too, especially my E-Pede. =)

rampbrian that xtm servo is rated at 170 in/oz on 4.8 volts its a decent servo and all but I like my airtronics 200 in/oz I got from tower but it is expensive at 110 bucks the xtm servo is a little slower than the airtronics one
