ok, my ez-start burned out on my maxx's 2.5 and i've had too many problems with it and want to replace it with something...i have a pullstart in there now, but i was wondering if there was anything that requires less manual work than the pullstart...if you could link me to the item or atleast where to be found...not wanting to spend more than about 25 on this so keep that in mind...was thinking about the powerdrill kind of things, can someone suggest one of those?

yeah, hpi is the only maker of the "roto-start".... a while back i saw this thing at my LHS that was supposed to just bolt on "any" engine to enable it to start with a drill, but the guy that owns the place (my lhs) said it was junk!! and just from what i've heard the roto-start is not compatable with the trx 2.5. personally, i'd stick with the pull start. its way less bs then the e-z start and less weight too!! so quit being so lazy and stick w/the pull start!! :p :D

lol, pull start should be fine come spring but with a cold engine, it can be a pain in the arse to start that sun of a gun and a pull start ain't fun...but hey, maybe i will get stronger! yay! lol..so pullstart is the best bet? sounds like a plan man...also, with the pullstart it seems that it only "catches" the rod and half the time the pulls don't even spin the engine, why is this?

yeah thats true, you can get frostbite in this crap people call weather trying to pull an engine to life. :D and about the "catching" problem, hell if i know  i'm not really that familiar with the anatomy of a pullstarter, i've never had to take one apart to service it... thats probably why i like em so much :D

what kind of pull-start do you have on that thing? and was there any oil on the shaft when you put it on or was it pre-installed?

they make one especially for that engine (or at least thats what jimmy at my lhs said when he sold it to me) i'm really not sure what kind it is... sirio?? and it came pre-assembled, lil oil, not much.. why is there lots of oil on yours or something?
