I bought a little foam airplane from Hobby Lobby (the craft store, not the RC shop) alled the "Akro Bipe" for $10. It's a rubber powered free flight model with an 18" span. I'm a cronic tinkerer so I put a Potenski POT 01 and HiTec micro gear in it, and guess what, it flies like a champ. I even put floats on one and fly it off my pool. It's a little squirrely in a tight turn, but as long as I'm cruising around smoothly, it is great fun.

How about a discussion of airplanes (not intended for RC) that anyone have converted. I once tried a P-51 from FunCraft models, only had a 12" wingspan and couldn't hold the weight involved, but it sure would have been cool. Anyone else as insane as me?

Can you post a picture? I am not sure where a Hobby Lobby craft store is around here. I might be able to find one elsewhere if I knew what to look for...

Thanks!

I converted a sterling 24" rubber powered SE5A into a park flyer with two S-80's, a pixie 14 speed control, 9 50 mah cells and a GWS DX-A motor with an 8 in peck polimer prop. Flew great until i burnt the motor out!! http://www.rcmicroflight.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.rcmicroflight.com/ubb/redface.gif .Very inexpensive equiptment.
