I have some Futaba FP-S20 servos in a plane that I purchased. They are wired for Airtronics old plug. G Plug? I want to convert them over to hitec receivers.
can you provide some advice on wiring? I am told the Airtronics old plugs were different.
What happens if you get the wiring wrong?

Hi,
What happens if you get the wiring wrong? Why you let the smoke out. No noise, no action, just silence and stillness from then on. OK, the thing to bear in ming is the color code. Undoubtedly the plugs are not compatible in this case. The issue is the wire colors. There should be three wires coming from the Airtronics. A red for positive power, black or brown for ground, and white, yellow, or orange for the signal. As long as you get these colors to mate with the corresponding Hitec color code, they will work. You might splice an aftermarket plug/cable on the Airtronics after cutting the wires. or go all the way inside to the amplifier board and swap the leads there. The really critical issue is not to get the positive and ground swapped when you put power on the servo.

Futaba use red(+) , black(-) and white (signal). Hitec is the same but the signal wire is yellow. Position in the receiver is same as the futaba. If it was wired for airtronics, the positive and neg terminals will be reversed.

My Airtronics servos have a Red, Balck & Black. The center Black is the negative and the outside black is for signal. I have Kraft, Airtonics, Futba, Hitec and some of the micro G9s all wired for my Airtronics Transmitters. I've changed Crystals in both Transmitter & Receivers with no problems. I found a wireing diagram for all servos on the net. If you need a copy I can send it in MS Word.
