J/w, but were you racing against Custom Works cars and other oval-only cars?

J/w, but were you racing against Custom Works cars and other oval-only cars?

There was a mix - about 8 other cars. Some were running custom works bodies. but unsure exactly what everyone had. I know there were a couple buggies. It was a 2wd class stock - open class.

I love my B4 I'm trying to trade a TC3 for a T4 now so I can race 2 classes on the same day. I race tonight and can't wait to get to the track. I'm so Hooked.

Nice! Was there a lot of cars out there?

BrushlessHawaii
12-12-2004, 01:39 AM
not really we should have more this friday though I know of 3 new buggies coming out - wooohoo. I'm the only one running associated so I wanna spank some more losi butt. LOL

microrcdude
12-12-2004, 04:49 PM
LOL I was amazed. the people that would of been in my heat were all losis, and not one of them had a lap under 1 min. I was pulling 30's till i broke.

BrushlessHawaii
12-13-2004, 12:10 AM
damn that sucks you broke. Man I love my B4 Buggy. It takes a beating some times.

OH I wish I had a video of this Jump I made Friday night. - They started calling me Big Air Afterwards though. LOL I hit the jump wrong but it worked out in my favor. I jumped so freaking far.

I ordered a Factory Team T4 Last night - I took my TC3 out there and someone bought it so I ordered the truck. It's gonna be hard but I'm gonna try to race truck and buggy both.

BrushlessHawaii
12-13-2004, 03:41 PM
Even Better News - I talked my mom into Rc parts for xmas - Yea - She's gonna get me a quantum 2 ESC and a Jr RS310 receiver. Now my T4 will be setup exactly like my B4. This is gonna be the "bestest" Christmas Ever.

BrushlessHawaii
12-13-2004, 03:50 PM
Damn your track must be huge. I wish ours was bigger But I just gave them a design that would make it harder and longer. So I hope they use it.

My fastest lap Friday night was around 12.7 seconds - although my average was 14.1. I turned 17 laps - My goal this week is 18 Laps we run 4 minute races. I think I'm gonna try to get them to go 5 minutes though.

If I can do 18 Laps that'll make my Average lap 13.3

I race a stock motor, and the track is real slow, and challenging. So far, it seems that my stock B4 beats mod B4's no problem. Maybe ill move to mod?

BrushlessHawaii
12-13-2004, 10:08 PM
I had a mod (Reedy KR 14 Double) in mine and it was to fast for my track. I couldn't get much more than half throttle. So I put a stock in it and it still flys. I run a 22 pinion and it moves nice.

microrcdude
12-14-2004, 08:21 PM
Ive never tried a mod before, but a stock is still a little overpowered.

microrcdude
12-18-2004, 12:19 AM
Anyone know of a good ESC for stock motors?

BrushlessHawaii
12-18-2004, 01:19 AM

I'm finally going to a track to break-in the B4 on some tammed dirt. The track is pretty big plus indoor, well in a barn. I've been to the track once but haven't practice or race there yet. I heard rumors that it went under because of bad mangement. I'll confirming that tomorrow. B4 w/ a Novak SS5800, this is going be so killer. :D

I haven't read anything about this here... and I have been out of the hobby for a few years so my question may sound stupid :-) What battery packs do you guys prefer in your B4's. Nimhs or Nicds. and why?
I don't have a LHS near me or I would ask them. And I need to know cause I am in the market to buy some batteries and a charger. If I go Nimhs... then I want a combo charger.

microrcdude
01-01-2005, 03:10 AM
i prefer NIMH's simply because they have better runtime and better numbers. I havent looked back snce i swiched to NIMH's, and i dont plan to.

Has anyone bought one of the refurbished B4's that AE sells on eBay?

suryo
01-02-2005, 03:27 PM
yes, my friend got 1 from AE on Ebay for 150 plus 15 s/h. it one of the best deal, all look like new, not even one scracth on the chassis, and it carry full waranty from AE.
it is the old B4 not the new special edition one.

microrcdude
01-02-2005, 08:24 PM
the special edition only really has an updated ESC, and some different stuff here and there.

BrushlessHawaii
01-03-2005, 03:56 PM
I prefer Nihm's also - no other way to go for racing ;)

I broke my front hub carrier thursday night racing - ugggg. well after the races actually I was playing around and laded a jump crooked. As much of a beating this thing takes I can't believe it broke on such a weak landing. Must have been ready to go prior to the landing. oh well. I finished building my T4 can't wait to try it out.

microrcdude
01-03-2005, 06:34 PM
Do you have troubles with your front bulkhead breaking alot? Does anyone else? Im kinda upset bout it, but i think im just oing to get trinity's auminum model. After all, the total money ive spent on front bulkheads, i coulda got the trinity one already.

Hi, I just got my B4 it's pretty sweet kit! It went together realy well, it's the team kit. I am going to race mod 12 turn . What hop ups am I going to need to race in mod? thanks

BrushlessHawaii
01-03-2005, 10:09 PM
the most needed hop ups are the hinge pin brace and titanium turnbuckles.

everything after that is optional.

BrushlessHawaii
01-03-2005, 10:11 PM
front bulkhead I've heard of but never seen.

I've only broke front arms and the front hub carrier oh and I destroyed the two outer bearings in the rear of my car. I just installed AVID racing bearings in my B4 & T4 - we'll see how they last

95128
01-03-2005, 10:25 PM
So really the only thing I will need is the hinge pin brace?

BrushlessHawaii
01-03-2005, 10:52 PM
I'd get those turnbuckles also. factory ones bend really easy.

microrcdude
01-03-2005, 11:09 PM
But when you get the turn buckles, get some RPM ball ends. This will really beef up the suspension area of your car. To make the pacage complete, install Titaium hinge pics for smoother suspension. In mod, youll want every advantage over the next competitor, so having a solid car is a great first step.

microrcdude
01-03-2005, 11:12 PM
FOrgot to say, but heres the aluminum front bullkhead, only $18.39 on tower.
Great buy(and durability) item for your car(Works on the T4 as well):

I got an Associated B4 and I love it! I put a Venom Fireball 19 turn in it and it runs great. I have an Airtronics Blazer sport and my stearing servo I upgraded to a Hitec metal gear 625. I'm planning on getting Pro-line bow-tie tires with regular racing dishes. For an ESC I got a Novac Explorer 2 and it works excellent along with the Venom 19 turn. I beat a Savage 25 at a dirt course up in Idaho when i first got it built. It was a small track at a local hobby shop and there were some guys out and i challenged them. one had the Savage and the other had a Losi XXXT. Another great feat was on-road. I beat my friends T-Maxx in a drag race down his street. We did many rematches because he was kind of a sore loser but my B4 beat it off the line and kept it the whole way. It's a great buggy and a fierce competitor. I highly redcomend this buggy for all people that are looking for a great off-road buggy.

The ESC in your RTR should be able to handle the 19t motor as long as you didn't over gear it,, call Assosiated it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm a Big fan of Associated. But I have to say Losi's XXXT RTR2 is a better deal. It has better electronics and a digital jr radio.

I don't buy RTR's though. I like building and knowing my rc's better. Makes repairs and tweeking easier.

microrcdude
01-10-2005, 06:55 PM

microrcdude

You really cant crawl with the RC18T. Its only 1/2" off the ground.

i think you should hav gotten a kit

buggyman17
01-14-2005, 09:42 PM
well...
it depends. i would raise the height as much as possible and get a motor and gear it for high torque

buggyman17

i bet i could get it to crawl most medium sized rocks with it.

Um dude, you wont go anywhere. As soon as you raise it, your axles and all will fall out. I say its not worth it, get a TLT-1 or something else for crawling.

TMaxxBenny25
01-15-2005, 03:30 PM

microrcdude

microrcdude

I'm considering getting a b4 soon. How is it's durability for someone that bashs and doesn't race? I bash pretty hard and run powerful bl systems so I need something that can take a jump. Do you guys think the b4 will hold up. Also, for someone like myself that will not be racing do you think the evader bx would be a better choice. Also, could someone point out the differences in the B3 and the B4

Bigair78

microrcdude
01-17-2005, 11:01 PM
The difference between a B4 is.......uh........everything. I thinkt he only thing these 2 share are shocks.

If your going to bash, i reccomend you get the trinity aluminum front bulkhead($16), and the RPM wide front bumper($7). Getting these will prevent lots of front end damage.

And it may be smart to get the duratrax too. But make sure that your LHS has parts for whatever vehicle you choose.

buggyman17
01-19-2005, 11:45 PM
Ya. I bash my b4 all the time with my friend and my b4 holds up. Even against his Tmaxx. Its quite funny actually when he cant hit my b4 (which he tries very hard to do). But both buggy's are good so as long as you have the spare parts your fine.

microrcdude
01-20-2005, 06:28 PM
Ya. I actually own both, and i can try to get a side by sie pic if ya want.

buggyman17
01-20-2005, 06:56 PM
I would get the b4 :D . i love my b4. its durable and can handle plenty of bashing.

microrcdude
01-20-2005, 10:31 PM
The B4 IMO is better for racing(Its completely designed for racing) and the B3 for bashing.

buggyman17
01-21-2005, 06:55 PM

No it uses b4 arms front and rear - Look at the way the front shocks mount to the arm though.

A quick question. Does anybody else here have problems putting in matched batteries into their B4's. It seems that it does not sit on the chassis correctly but hangs up on the battery bars. I know my stick packs fit, very snugg thou.

buggyman17
01-26-2005, 08:01 PM
that doesnt happen to me....
my packs always fit snug but i dont hav to jam them in there.
I would try sanding in the sides a bit.

BrushlessHawaii
01-27-2005, 11:15 AM
yes thats a know issue. - the reedy battery bars help slightly. although the new gp 3300 cells are slighty smaller and fit perfectly.

in the mean time make sure your bars are snug against the batteries and squeeze them in the battery box I have Pick I use to help pry them out with. LOL

microrcdude
01-27-2005, 06:13 PM
What i did was hit the solid end of the handle on a screwdriver on the bars to flatten them a little.

LearjetMinako
01-27-2005, 07:14 PM
Well thats kinda of good to know. I have like a Gen 1 or Gen 2 GP3300 pack w/ deans bars. The pack was my first appment at solidering batteries. It was a good pack, just had a steep learning curve w/ it. But since I'm good at it, I was woundering if the newer batteries oppose a problem like my old one did. I'll try to take those into building a better pack. Race season starts in April, can't wait. :D

microrcdude
01-27-2005, 09:58 PM
Use the deans 3.0 bars from now on

LearjetMinako
01-28-2005, 09:17 AM
Deans 3.0?? Sounds like a software thing. I'll look for them, most likely if I asked that at the LHS. The owner will probably say what am I talking about. If not, I will most likely flatten the bars in a vise-grip to get them to work.

Oh and anything, its SNOWING in Oklahoma. . Kinda of odd.

BrushlessHawaii
01-28-2005, 10:13 AM
You can keep the snow there. - it's dry in Kentucky.

I think the reedy bars are slightly thinner than the deans - I have both and the reedys fit a little better. I've never measured them though.

If your gonna smash them I'd prolly only do one side because the batteries only need a little help squeezing in.

buggyman17
01-28-2005, 09:45 PM
im getting two venom 3000 batts. :D rite now i gaet 12-15 mins. of run time on my $12 racers edge batts. i hav three in order to get the most time out in the field.

microrcdude
01-28-2005, 10:48 PM
We are going to stock up on 3300's by venom.

LearjetMinako
01-28-2005, 11:02 PM
Okay, then I guess when I do the battery packs on my next pay check. I'll use Reedy bars, if the LHS has them.

Snow came and went, didn't lasted one day.

buggyman17
01-28-2005, 11:26 PM

i cant wait to get my new pro-line bow-tie tires!!! Anyone hav any suggestions for upgrades to highten the speed/durability of my b4???

TMaxxBenny25
01-29-2005, 02:52 PM
HA i already have my venom batts. My rustler gets about double the run time then with my dyna sport 1500. And it uses a crappy stinger 20 turn and its a little overgeard because i need a new spur.

microrcdude
01-29-2005, 09:32 PM
Get a hotter motor for more speed. Also look into the RPM front bumper for durability.

buggyman17
01-29-2005, 09:49 PM
ya...
i wanted a new fireball 17 turn for speed. an RPM bumper would help also. im also hoping to get some factory team upgrades. :D

microrcdude
01-30-2005, 11:53 AM

buggyman17
01-31-2005, 05:52 PM
i kno you could. so could i but i have no desire to rite now. before i get the ugrades though i want to get a mini watever i decide on. if i want a crawler i would get a
TLT-1 but if i wanted to race i would get the RC18T.

microrcdude

buggyman17

ya. i love AE. thats why i got a b4 instead of an evader or other off-road buggy. Thats why if i was gonna get another 1/10 scale i would get a t4 because i want some sort of stadium truck. thats why i like the rc18t but i also want a mini that can be made into a crawler.

microrcdude
02-02-2005, 10:42 PM
Ya. if AE made 1/8th buggies, they'd be even more rich, and if they made a electric MGT they would prolly make more.

Once you go Team AE, you can't go back. I've tried w/ my 2nd kit, big ,mistake. Went right back to Team AE and never looked the other way. Now I own 4 AE kits (currently one is shot, so its a part car), the other non-AE kit. Been a parts car since day one (very sad).

:) hi there all i used to have the old gold rc 10 years ago, and i was reading on the problems with spin out's in winter.well i live in alaska and played with mine outside alot and what i did to mine was i took some old tires and pushed carpenters staples through them so they were like studded snow tire's lol,
it worked great at first i did only the back tires and got mad traction but could'nt steer so i put the staples in the front ones too then i was good to go
i am getting back into it and ordered a team b-4 buggy
and i was curious whats the b50's i gather it's a brushless motor but where online might i be able to check into getting one ? thank you

can't wait to build it,I was reading some post's about the front wheel problems on the b4 any one know if that issue has been fixed ?..
when i start bashing around i'll let ya all know how they handle extreme cold hehe ,for i live in anchorage alaska and work in the alaska oilfields on top of the world and plan on bashing around here at work where the avg temp is minus 30 f so hope fully the parts are stout lol ...

buggyman17
02-19-2005, 12:52 PM

or it should. it will run in the cold as long as you can handle it! ive only had one front wheel prob and that is that i broke the front bulkhead. no worries.

buggyman17

jaymz_99502

Yeah it get's so cold here on the north slope that i've seen the 4 inch thick steel forks on a front end loader break like a saltine cracker so i just need to drive carefull and not run into anything,
the landscape is perfect for bashing all flat with packed hard snow with whoop-de-doo's from the high winds here ..

Wow is all i can say, after i built my new kit...
I got home monday from work and stayed up all day building it,so tuesday morning i was out bashing but cout could'nt get to far cause all the ice on my street so plan b went into effect lol..
i ended up putting 5/16 staples in the stock tires and just gonna keep the extra set of dirt hawgs for the spring thaw ..
if any one is wanting to run outside on the ice you have to put the staples in both the front and back evenly spaced then a couple of drops of super glue or tire glue on the inside of the tire to secure the staples and then cover them with a strip of duct tape to keep the staples from being pushed in i had to do this after my first run outside, the rear tires ended up looking funny cause i did'nt secure the makeshift studs ...
after doing this it now handles and drives like it's on carpet on bare ice which makes it fun to drive instead of just doing doughnuts lol plus since getting traction and no wheel spin it keeps alot of the snow off the buggy i noticed which is great plus ..
when i get a chance i'll post some pics ..

Hi all well after some great bashing and lots of fun i was wondering if there was a secret to keeping the cross pin in place on the mip cvd axel assem the part number i lost while bashing was 7381 hehe i was moving at a good clip then it started to slow way down and there was an awfull noise so i go look at it and to my amazement i lost the lil pin ..
other than that it has been a great fun lil car i am very happy with it ..
when i get home from my next stint at work i'm thinking of ordering the associated mgt that looks like a great basher too any one know how they hold up seems like every one else is running the maxx so i wanna be diff and run the MGT and having the associated name on it ,it should be a fun durable truck ..
:D

buggyman17
03-02-2005, 09:40 PM
get the cvd repair kit and DO NOT TRY TO USE CA GLUE TO FIX IT! that happened to me too but i think you should just get the new pin in and see. mine works now but it still comes out a little but not completely.

BrushlessHawaii
03-02-2005, 10:01 PM
Make sure you use thread lock when you tighten the screw that holds that pin in. and also use a good set of allen wrenches - the cheapies make it hard to get that screw tight. It's a common problem with cvd's - usually theres some warning noice from the pin rubbing.

I lost one when I first started racing my b4 - it was race night and I didn't have a rebuild Kit. So I cut a body clip to size stuck it in then wrapped it in electrical tape I was able to race and finish the night with no problem.

They are threaded so you can adjust ride height without using those plactice clips. I recommend you get a caliper if you get the threaded shocks.

Who's running a Novak Brushless system on their B4? The reason I'm asking that, is because the ESC is rubbing my body in the stock ESC mounting place. Anyone else having that problem?

jaymz_99502
03-08-2005, 05:52 AM
Well after bashing around outside for 2 weeks with my b4 i'm gonna give a brushless set up a try i'm gonna get the associated set up cause the novak esc seems kinda big to me and the lrp is small in size plus i like to be diff hehe seems like most people are using the novak set up plus on the nep motor i think it said 6.4 per volt or around there so it should make my lil buggy scoot along at a nice clip ..
now i just have to wait 4 weeks before i get home from work before i get to try it out ..
any one else use the neo/lrp set up ?..

I have Dynamite (http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Detail.aspx?ProductID=DYN2909) allen drivers and they work great and the tips are hardened and replaceable. I got the US set for $20.00. It comes with .050, 1/16 and 3/32. I purchased the 5/64 driver separate. The B4 requires all 4 sizes, but the 3 in the kit are the most used.

The Losi Tools are awesome too, but they are around $40 or so. If you don't mind spending the cash, go with the Losi's.

microrcdude
03-15-2005, 06:06 PM

RidgewayBodies
03-15-2005, 06:14 PM
Also, this Dynamite (http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Detail.aspx?ProductID=DYN2812) nut driver kit comes in very handy too. Only $15.00 for the assortment set!

Although, I do have one problem with the driver that fits the rear wheel nut...the outside of the driver is a tad bit too large to fit inside the wheel to fully tighten the wheel. I will remedy this problem by grinding the outside of the nut driver to fit in the rear wheel opening.

microrcdude

I just use the stock plastic driver right now because snap-on has my socket.

ILuvMyB4
03-16-2005, 02:27 AM
i have to use the stock driver too because i got the wrong size when i went to get the hex drivers. im getting the dynamites though. i had the same problem with the head being too big and barely fit in the wheel. but that grindin will get the outside the right size. i got the stupid sears allen drivers though and i actually bent it. the only thing i like about it is the spinning top.

RidgewayBodies
03-16-2005, 01:13 PM

Ground the outside on the 11/32"...

OMG noooooooo

your not suppossed to use any lube in the tranny - read the directions. - the b4 gears are designed to run without lube. again - "READ YOUR DIRECTIONS."

some thing's i did'nt like was the dish rims here now that there's no snow and i drilled some holes in the rim's so pepple's and debris would'nt build up in the rear rims and i smoked my qauntum pro reverse :( so i went to the lhs and no q pro reverse's there so had to just get the pro ai there cause i'm running a p-94 12x2 now but i smoked it going into a big puddle of water
so waterproofed my new speedo by pop'n it open and covering everything in that liquid electrical tape and it works great now so no water worries any more oh darn trouble up loading pic's they are to big lol
well i left the studded tires in for traction on grass and oh my god what traction for bashing

ILuvMyB4

3700's are only what? $75? not worth the money unless you get sponsored, where as you wouldnt have to pay for them. a 3000 is a good deal too. im not about to spend $75 on a battery when i could spend it on much better things.
