I agree, SWAC was a great time. I really want to thank DR. Frank for all his effort to make this event happen. Thanks also, to you, and the other NIRAC officers that helped make the indoor fly the highlight of the weekend for the flyers as well as the spectators. It's hard to beleive that NIRAC was just a gleem in Bob Wilder's eye at last years event. The accomplishments since last year are impressive. I enjoyed meeting Tom Atwood as well, and really appreciate the event coverage he is going to provide in the future.

Hey Guys:
I just wanted to post a short update on the incredible indoor flying at SWAC. I'd say it was a huge success. Dr. Sandy Frank did a superb job on the show as usual. Tom Atwood from RC MicroFlight was on hand photographing models and getting specs for them, it was a pleasure meeting him and I'm sure he will have a VERY comprehensive event coverage article soon.
Contests flown were Limbo, Combat, scale, Heli's, and 2 classes of Pylon Racing. The Combat was a blast, and the racing drew the largest crowd I've ever seen at an indoor event.
Jerry Small and the gang put on some incredible Reno style races, I hope someone got it on video!
There are some great pictures at http://members.nbci.com/paulbrad/2001SWAC/2001SWAC.htm
The B-24 and P-51 at the top are the ones I've been posting about, and be sure to check out Gary Jones' B-36 PeaceMaker, in my opinion, it is the most impressive indoor model yet.
If anyone else has pictures (I wasted all of my time flying) post them here! And to all you guys who attended, it was great meeting you all in person.
Do we really have to wait a whole year to do it again :(

How can we get more info on those Reno racers that Jerry Small & Co. were flying??

There is a possibility that they will be released in kit form in the future. I could give you spec's for days, but the real key is the airfoil that Jerry worked out. Many revisions finally resulted in the great flying characteristics you see today.
They are about 28" to 30" span and use standard GWS "A" motors with the Dyamond 3 Bladed props and standard micro RC gear.
I know that doesn't help you much, but the rest is all Jerry and Don. Jerry is a true artist in foam, check out www.jerrysmallcreations.com (http://www.jerrysmallcreations.com) and look at what he does for his "day job". I designed his web site and was blown away by what he does.

Nice pictures Jason. I too would like to know more about the Reno Racers. What is used to coat or seal the foam? What do they weigh?

They are nice pictures, unfortunately I didn't give Paul Braddley credit for them in my earlier post. He should be commended for setting his transmitter down and picking his camera up a few times.....I never did 8-(
I know there were several people shooting video also, i'm trying to track them down.
On the racers, I don't know the all up weight, I would guess around 8 or 9 ounces. I hand launch for Jerry Small occasionally (if I promise not to screw up) so it's really just a guess. I wish Ii knew what he coated them with before painting, he'll tell me eventually, I hope. :)
