I am building a ZAGI 3C EPP wing for slope soaring. This wing uses a three carbon spar system.

I plan to use standard size Hitec HS-311 servos as the instructions say the foam is cut for standard size seros. I will be using 4AA size NIMH batteries for the receiver pack. Probably 1500s+. I will follow the instructions for a rugged rather than a light wing which should come up around 19 ozs.

Will be installing a Hitec 3 channel receiver to be used with a Hitec single stick radio. It has built in mixing.

Any tips or recommendations for the build, finishing, etc? All comments are appreciated. This is my first wing.

All the electronics are installed, the strapping reinforcement is done and the color tape is finshed. The elevons are next.

We arrived at our first site at 6:30 AM. I had the ZAGI 3C that had been
sitting finished for way too long. You see the only slope sites I know on
Long Island need a north wind and you don't get a lot of north winds here in
the summer. So I waited. Oh, they came, but it was 6AM on a Wednesday and I
had to work, or it was solid north and solid rain! :( Or the Honey Do's
could not wait. Man I wanted to try slope and had the right plane now.

Finally this past weekend all the conditions lined up and I got to fly REAL
slope. Oh boy am I hooked!

My friend tossed the plane into the lift at 6:30 and trimmed it out, then
handed it to me. I landed briefly around 7:15, then a crash at 7:30. Right
back up each time. At 9:15 or so, I had to land because my radio battery was
getting so low I felt I should land. It was 9:15 and I had been in the air
almost 3 hours!

Unbelievable!

Swap batteries in the radio, give the plane's battery a little boost and 9:30
I am in the air again. Landed at 10 because the wind was shifting. Off to
the second site.

10:30 we launched. Air was as smooth as silk and there were thermals around
too. At 12:15 the lift was fading so I landed.

It was barely past noon and I had almost 5 hours of flight time. Fantastic!
But the lift was gone, so it was off to lunch, then thermal flying till 6 PM.

Man, I can't wait till the next north wind!

That next north wind came and we were up again a couple of weeks ago. So much fun. And this ZAGI is as tough as can be.

The ZAGI 3C makes a great first flying wing slope glider.
