hello i am taking a tamiya offroad pajero ( bet you all have seen it) and lowering it because i like lowered trucks and suv's. and i was wondering what the numbers mean on the shocks like 1.32 and .56 and stuff liek that. is it the smaller the number the lower the ride height? just wondering because ive never bought shocks before. thanks for the help.:)

Associated lists their shock by the amount of stroke in the shock itself. So the .56 shocks will compress 0.56 inches, and the 1.32 shocks will compress 1.32 inches. Losi does the same thing, and HPI lists their shocks by the extended and compressed length (IE The RS4 Rally shocks are 50-66mm, and the on-road shocks are 45-56mm).

For the Pajero, some good shocks are HPI RS4 Rally and Associated .71" shocks (The B2-B3 fronts have a .89" body, so they are a little too long to fit perfectly). Shorter Associated and HPI shocks should also work if you use longer shock ends: That's basically what Tamiya has done with that truck, touring car shocks and long rod-ends.

I haven't built them fully but I have had good results fit-wise with the stock bodies and caps and HPI RS4 Rally shafts, pistons, and Associated or Traxxas shock ends. I did have to limit the up-travel because of the longer shafts and shorter bodies. It works for me because I had those parts lying around, but new shocks would only be slightly more expensive, and a better option overall.

To lower the truck, just use standard touring car shocks and it should work fine. There is a lowering kit for the truck from Tamiya, I have seen them on eBay from time to time.
