View Full Version : Best Paint Competition #13 (No restrictions)

Welcome everyone to the Thirteenth Best Paint Competition!!

The best paint competition will be open for entrees for two weeks and will close at 12:00 AM March 15 at midnight CST.
Restrictions: NONE (April will be the first month with restrictions. I will post the restrictions during the march competitions).
The best paint competition is an opportunity for people to express their unbounded imaginations on a clear recycled 2 liter coke bottle. With the exception of restricted months, any body may be entered in this competition by any member of RCZone. Each body will be judged based on 3 criteria:

1) Design: How well does the design fit/flow on the body? Is it visually appealing? How are the color choices? Originality does not count, but naturally something that every painter has done will not score as high as something unique and new in skills used or design.
2) Execution: Regardless of how complex or difficult it is, how well is it executed? Are there paint bleeds? Are the lines straight (or correctly curved)? Are their obvious mistakes? Finger prints? How well executed are the fades and other basic painting techniques? etc.
3) Difficulty: How hard was this body to paint? Is it one color? Is the entire thing 5mm checkers with 4 different colors in each square? Are the mask lines through difficult areas of the body (ie, wing mounts or stadium truck beds). It may be 2 colors, but is one marbled? Is one color a candy that requires a special backing technique? This is where experience as a painter helps the most.
The photo and background will not be judged. All that is needed is a clean photo that clearly shows the body. A chassis is not required, the body is being judged.

The winning bodies may appear in Radio Control Car Action!!

RULES for Best Paint:

1) Any body may be submitted to the competition (Truck, buggy, touring car, etc).
2) Any body submitted may NOT appear in another competition.
3) Photo editing the pictures (other than cropping and adjusting brightness/contrast) is highly looked down upon and may result in disqualification.
4) Anyone may enter a body (professional painters are welcome!)
5) Please refrain from insulting bodies in anyway.
6) Must fall within this month's restrictions
7) Only 2 entrees per person.
8)Bodies should be painted within the last 4 months.

Each submission must include the following:
Body manufacturer and size.
Paint used.
Masks used (hand or precut)
Inspiration (could be another paint job).
And of course, a body.

This month Integra d12 will be judging the Best paint competition.

In the following two weeks (March 15 to March 31) we will hold the Thirteenth Street/Race Competition. Each month we will hold a Best Paint and Street/Race competition. If you can’t get your bodies done this month, don’t worry there will be plenty more to come!!

April restrictions:
Best paint: Music. Paint a guitar, notes, band logos, as long as you can justify it as being “music” then its game.

Best street/race: Imports. (can be in race trim or street)

GOOD LUCK

King, are you asuming Yendor won with the Skoda or the Mazda?.... Well he could have won with both. He has out classed everyone with the combo.

Rogue had a respectable entry with the broncho.

King , it would be great to see you diversify a bit. The same old barbed flames have been well worn out by you. I totaly respect your talent, but you really neeed to try some new things.

I only say that from experience. All too many times I have rested on my "Money" design.

Anyway ... you all have done anexcellent job!!!!!!!!!!

The King
03-23-2004, 04:00 AM
Yeah I know about the flames. I can not help it if that is what my customers want. So what I try to do when I do the same old flame job is add a different technique to them. Like one time I did a flame job with just chrome paint or another time I marbelized it and so on. If my customers are going to pay me to do flames then so be that is what I am going to post. When I get enought $$$$$$$ together for my own body then I will do something just for you:D And it will not be FLAMES lol
Thanks for the feedback.

Your welcome. To be honest is was a hard choice between the 2, this(MG)is one of the best bodies I have seen you produce, it is inovative and the flames are nicely illustrated and the fade from the pearl white to the yellow is very smooth.
