I just got a 5400 himaxx and PHOENIX 25AMP PROGRAMMABLE CONTROLLER. Can anyone tell me how many cells I can safely run with this set up? I'm new to the brushless motor world any help would be apprecatied. Feel free to recommend any battery set up.
I have run up to eight cells w/ the Mamba controller using the Razor micro-car motor 5850Kv. I know of people running 11.1v Lipos also w/o complications. I lowned my car to a friend to test and he ran 9 cells. All of these in a 1/18 scale car. The controller has held up well. I was one of the peolple running the Beta Mamba version. Excellent controller.
If you would like to know about further extreme testing upwards from 9 cells, consider emailing Shawn Palmer at Castle Creations or posting at the RCGroups forum Castle Creations section. I'm sure he will be more than happy to answer.
From my experience, if running 1/18 cars, going for 8-9 cells w/ these cars is bordering on uncontrollability unless you plan to run in a straight line, and believe me you will have your hands full just doing that....you would require an ultra-smooth surface and some luck...
I hope this helps you out, get ready to take these cars to faster speed than you have seen if 1/18 is the case. Blow some minds of the 1:10 scalers.:p

does anyone know what is the biggest car (1/12 ,1/18 )this motor will pull ?
I don't know what car bigger than one 1:18 I'd run it on. My motor gets hot on 6 cells and 23t pinion in the xray. Batt and controller stay cool though.
To give you an idea of the speed though, I ran today against a 1:10 10t mod motor and he couldn't pass me on the straights. Couldn't catch me on the straights:D.
