I have the oportunity to get a set "4" brand new cvd's for my tmaxx but they are the .15 cvd's and I have the 2.5 arms.
My question is how can you make them fit ? the only thing that I can guess is to get the outdrives that would be longer to make up the difference does anyone know where someone could get something like this ?
Also how are the dynamite .21 conversion kits. as these cvd's are in the dynamite .21 kit.

Also I have a spool in the rear of my truck. has anyone busted cvd's with a spool or should I just put the limited slip back in ?

No, the cvd's for the older trx .15 Maxx will not fit the wider 2.5 Maxx, they are way to short. Save up your money and get a set thats mase for the wider 2.5 Maxx.
Yes you can bend a cvd shaft if you are using a spool. Doesn't matter what brand of cvd you are using. Dynamite cvd's are supposed to be good, I have a set on my Aluma Maxx, there pretty nice. FYI they are as thick as the UE units. I have UE Ti center shafts on my other Maxx. You should consider UE if your looking for steel cvd shafts, there priced pretty competitvely to dynamite and MIP cvd's.

I think its a rare accurance to break or bend a cvd with a spool. People who abuse there trucks most likely.

Well I figure for the cost of cvd's I would be best off putting the limited slip back in and just putting a sping on the spider gear shaft and putting some axle grease in it. and call it a bit of insurance.
But back to the .15 cvd's with the 2.5 arms.
I know that the .15 cvd's are shorter that is a give in. But to compensate for that shortness couldn't you get outdrives that are longer than the ones that come with the cvd's to make up for the length difference between the .15 and 2.5 cvd's ? or the length would be to great and pose problems?
I honestly think that my problem is the spool, but I paid money for it. and well I would like to keep it in the truck, but if it is going to break parts then I will just take it out. I kinda wish that I wouldn't have bought it. But then again I wish that my tmaxx was as tuff as my Jeep is :>!

As far as I know there are know extended outdrives available to allow the usage of .15 length cvds with the wide maxx 2.5. Anyways if there were extended outdrives available they wouldn't work very well becuase the added length of the outdrives would cause them to hit the bottom of the upper suspension arm when the suspension is relaxed or fully extended.
Its rare to damage a cvd while using a spool. Just don't abuse your truck and it should be fine with the spool.

lol, that's deffinatly one way to put it. :) Just imagine if it was a Maxx with a .26...can you say drop in LS1? :-D
But back to the CVD quesion. No, no, and no. It' won't work. The 2.5 arms are about a inch longer, so you're not going to find an outdrive that will compensate for that. Even if you did, like r.c.dealer said, it wouldn't work correctly. Just save up and purchase a set of 2.5 CVDs. We (my LHS) have a set of Dynamite CVDs for 39.99 for the 2.5. Jus save up and get the right ones.

Being a Jeep guy that is how things should be worded so that I understand them in relationship to what they are :> LOL not really.
But yes, I understand that I am going to have to just get the 2.5 cvd's but I thought there might be a chance that the .15 ones will work with extended outdrives but I forgot about the clearance on the upper arm and the driveshaft.
And I'm going to pull out the spool as I think that is the reason that I'm breaking parts and well if I'm going to spend 35+ on a cvd set then I do not want to risk busting it. so I'll put the open diff back in. but I'll make it a limited slip with a spring from a click pen and some automotive wheel bearing grease. as that is what I did to the front and never broke anything drivetrain related in the front. It is just to bad that these things aren't built well enough to handle dual spools as gunning the remote and watching your truck slide sideways as all four tires spin the same ammount would kick ass. But that isn't going to happen.
Thx for the help guys and powerstroke01 keep on Jeepin' man. I have a 92' YJ and XJ I would never put a full locker in any of the d30's or d35's or even the 8.25" but I would put a lockright in them all "limited slip" But damn. OX is the shizzle :D Can I get an OX for my RC ? have a 4 channel remote and flip one switch and that engages or disengages the front diff from fully locked to open. and the other switch does the rear? HUH HUH? where is it ? ARRRRRGGGHHH ? LOL. I'm sure someone might make that someday. OX 1/10th scale for the hardcore r/c rock crawler!!!

are you saying that those 2 comapanies make outdrives that will allow you to use .15 cvds with the 2.5 arms ?
