I recently installed a Traxxas spool in my rear diff. I didnt like it at all. My cvd's would constantly pop out because of the stress even off-road it would bind. But i found a good limited-slip idea.
I have used the click-pen spring but the compression rate is several grams.
My new idea is very very simple. FUEL TUBING.
I cut a lenth of fuel tubing. 75% of the lenth of the spider gear pin and squished it inbetween the gears. The fuel tubing works great. Limited Slip but not locked.
You guys should give it a shot.

I'm interested in trying it but I'm not following you yet. Any more info?
Thanks

Well the fuel tubing holds up well. You can feel the difference jsut by turning the wheel on one side and seeing that it's tight. The nice thing is that it is adjustable. You can cut a longer/shorter piece of tubing to get the correct tension. I made mine 75-80% of the pin that holds the spider gears. You can get even more grip by serrating the end of the fuel tubing. The best thing is that its a VERY cheap mod.

I did that long time ago and it does work good but I blew up my diff with my .21 and put a spool in the rear and then put the fuel tubing idea on the front.

I dont know how you guys are burning up diffs and tranny gears with .21's. I have the mach .26 in mine and nothing but clutch bells have been stripped out.

Mine Blew when I let my friend drive and he slammed it into a mailbox post and he never let off until after he hit it. So the force of the engine and a dead stop blew the thing into pieces, the outer diff case had holes busted in it from the parts flying out

I think the idea is for more traction. The spool breaks outdrives(I'm now learning lol), while the spring or fuel tubing makes more of a posi out of a open diff(while still giving on the inside tire). I love the snap & roost of the spool, but outdrives are breaking with my 2.5. I gotta give the drivetrain a break when the .21 goes in. ;)
Sounds like a clever trick...
