Hey everyone out there...
I run my T3 almost daily, and only race ocassionaly. I like bashing and high jumps, of course with lots of speed. I was looking for like a 10 turn brushed motor(i would need a better ESC, so why not BL?), but saw this BL info and am considering the longer run times and almost no matinence(so i hear). I am not new to the R/C scene, but all the information on these posts in confusing to try and pick stuff up. I guess i would like to know some of the prices of various set-ups. I plan to stick w/ my 6 cell GP3300, and 3000 packs. I am only 15 so i can't go all out on something, but i dont think i need the "big" controllers because i am NOT going to pack my truck w/ 18 cells or anything crazy. I would like long run-times if , but speed is my main issue. I would like to spend less than $200 if possible, but i am not sure if that can be possible with some of the things i have read on these posts Thanks in advance for any information!

The only system in your price range right now is the Novak SS5800 system. You should be able to get it for around $210 at Tower after you subtract all of Tower's special offers, etc. It will perform much like a 11 or 12 turn brushed motor, while giving you virtually zero maintenance. Just gear it right and keep the ESC cool and you'll have a lot of fun. I have one and I love it. I take it to the track in my T4 as much as I possibly can. Have fun! :D

sounds about right for me.....but how long are the runs times? and what about top speed...i havent had a 11 or 12, and since i bash alot the, i am after the "wow" effect on some of my friends that run gas and bash electric. Thanks for the info.

everyone else......
what if i up my budget to lets say $275? is it worth the extra $$ over the novak? i havent read much about the novak.....Thanks

The extra money won't really get you anything as far as new equipment goes, and the Novak system will make you more than competitive with 10th scale nitro trucks when it comes to speed and runtime.

With a good set of GP 3300s, proper gearing, and a well maintained vehicle you can expect top speed to be in the mid 30mph range, and run time to be right around 12 min. of course that depends on a lot of different factors so YMMV.

Your truck may not beat them in a straight line drag race on a high traction surface, but it will be pretty close, and depending on the driver should be quicker around any track that has more turns than an oval:D .

I would save up and buy a nice used system. The Novak system isn't what it's said to be.

I have to semi-agree I just got mine and expected alot more out of it but I keep getting nearly run down but my friends old monster of touring that has not been maintained in 37 packs! I have it set right and it is a SS5800 so I don't understand! I am upgrading to Li-Po's and a Lehner 5300 with schulze esc soon, if I were you I would save up and get the better system... JMO Maybe it has something to do with running rubber on carpet... It is a great system for getting started in BL and would work good with jumps, as a matter of fact, I may just stick it in my pede when the 5300 replaces it and bash around :)...

That would be me :P Its a 15t monsters of touring that has been bashed, ive never had brushes changed or comm cut in over 60 runs. Personally though I just think it's my elite driving skills ;P.

EDIT- I'm using rubber on carpet too :P
