For anyone who might be interested, The Eastern Soaring League sponsors a number of events each season starting in May. The ESL events are thermal duration sailplane events held in various cities and states along the east coast.
Event Calendar

In past years the events have been well attended with pilots from all over the US and several European countries.
ELS membership is free.
The only formal entry qualifications are that contestants must have a current AMA license. Other than that, your own assessment of your ability to launch and fly your plane in a safe manner.
From the ESL Web Site:
"ESL contests, while competitive and including some of the best pilots in the country, are characterized by good sportsmanship and a spirit of inclusion and coaching. If you are an R/C soaring pilot of any skill level, and you have the opportunity to attend an ESL contest, we encourage you to enter and enjoy two days of competitive soaring fun."
The organization's mission statement is provided here:

If you are a sailplane pilot who would be interested in testing his or her skills in a fun event, check out the link and consider one of the events.
