Just Purchased Lehner 1920 8 turn + Schulze 18.97FW !!!

Well boys, I just got all crazy and went ahead with this purchase for my new HPI Super RS4 kit which I plan to heavily modify for extreme parking lot racing:D .

The idea was not to go with a low turn and go with high cell count to keep the heat down and long term reliability of my investment up. However, I am getting concerned with the run time and weight from 12 cells.

Chris Fine says 12 cells is the maximum number I should be thinking of using with this motor and that I should start with my existing 6 cell to get used to the ungodly power.

The question, should I wait for lipos to evolve more or should I put down money on the construction of a conventional 12 cell saddle pack now? Either way I don't have a proper charger for either so I would be starting from scratch anyway.

I have my eye on Thunder Power's TP8000-4S4P. 14.8 v! Or is that too much:confused:

The TP8000-4S4P will not fit because of the length. The TP8000-3S4P may fit if you have a long battery tray that would fit around 10 cells lined up.

Read my thread "Lithium Poly Batteries" in the "Electric" Forum for testing I have done in stadium trucks with the TP8000-2S4Ps and TP6000-2S4Ps.

Li-Pos are so far ahead of Nickel Batteries it's like comparing a Model T Ford to a Formula One car. You will not be disappointed with Li-Pos and will thank me for recommending them after you get rid of those nickel batteries.

PS. Chris Fine is just starting to use Li-Pos in his RCs after my advice! He is now a Thunder Power dealer! I should have locked down a distributorship earlier, but I am in this for the fun of it.

I hear you on that.

The car I have is almost 1/8th scale and it would fit. I would have to remove the tray end caps and use battery straps to hold it down.

It's just that 300 clams is a hell of alot to put into batteries (and that's before the charger.)

What about their reliabilty and longevity?

As I said, read the thread for all theinformation you need. I now have 8 TP batteries with 2 more on the way. No problems and I am a novice driver that tears alot of things up.

Next month Thunder Power is supposedly coming out with LiPos with almost 1/2 the internal resistance so theoretically you can run 4000 mah packs instead of larger/longer 6000 or 8000 packs. This is according to my LHS which sells a lot of LiPos.

You won't be disappointed with that combo - but 7.2 volts would be rather slow. 11.1 volts will be good and 14.8 even better.

They will be shipping them next week. I just changed my order that was on backorder to the new TP7600s series that have more punch with the 10C discharge rate versus the 6C of the TP8000s. They are also 5mms narrower than the TP8000s also to fit in the battery tray easier.

Does this more punchy 10c discharge model have the low voltage protection as well?
