Hey - first of let me say that...I LOVE MY NOVAK! :D Guys, we need some bumper stickers. ;)

Anyway, there is one problem that I'm having with my system: Whenever I'm in a race, driving hard (obviously), the motor seems to cut-out once in a while for a second when I'm giving it around full throttle. I'm running it on the Limited Profile - I haven't really even used the Unlimited Profile yet. I've been doing temperature checks on the ESC while trying to simulate a hard racing environment and have been getting around 150-160 degrees F. Any suggestions? I really don't want to send the system in, but if need be, I guess I should. Help! :D

When running in the limited mode that is normal.

The explination is this:

When set up in the limited mode under no load the motor will reach a certian RPM and remain there until the throttle is released or lowered from 100%.

When you put the motor under load, such as in a car, the motor will accelerate to the top RPM. When it reaches this top RPM the car is still accelerating a little due to inertia (?). The car ends up going past the RPM limit that the ESC has set on the motor so the motor cuts out until it drops below that RPM limit again.

What you end up getting is a pulsing feeling at top speed when running in the limited mode.

If you switch to the unlimited mode you will see this problem dissapear.

It works very much like the speed governor in your full size car. Wigged me out the first time I ran it in the limited profile.

Thanks for all the help, guys. That totally makes sense.

Also, how do you think the Limited Profile compares to the power of a high-performance racing stock motor?

although some stock motors can be tuned to run the same as the brushless, most stock motors perform nowhere near the brushless in stock mode.

Well let's put it this way: I shelled out $235 for my brushless motor system. If someone put that much money into a stock motor (lathe, brushes, springs, tuning, etc.), would it perform like the Novak?

There are some sponsered guys at the track and they are just as fast as me and my Novak on Limited with their stock motors - actually, they seem to be faster. :D

from what ive seen , the novak looks a hair faster,e.i. 1-2mph faster then a good fast stock brushed motor........

Now if you went down in gear size to take out the speed factor and lossen your slipper a small bit , it would be quite equal, Well thats what a couple guys do down here....:) (Tampa track,e.i winter nats, and our new hobby shop track in hudson)

but the guys at our 2 local tracks are not sponsered... but do have alot of crap the carry to the track, were my cusin and i bring , our trucks, batts, radio, and charger, oh yeah and a small box of tools left in the van:D

i love BL, next stop Lipos:p :D
