Hello. right now i have a FT TC3 with LRP V7.1 ESC and Trinity D6 9T motor in it. I have ran about 10-15 packs threw it and am liking it. I am now getting a little worried about having to cut the comm, etc. I dont want to do that. What is the best and fastest brushless system out there for the tc3 right now? I want super fast. I want something that will beat my D6 set up. Any suggestions? I am guessing my car is hitting right around 40MPH right now with some matched GP 3300's. I want more speed tho! I also want to have maintenance free s thats why i decided to go brushless. If you post any suggestions (Brushless mtor and ESC setup) could you also post the price of it.

I've got my HPI pro 4 with 6 cells and a Lehner 1515 6 turn motor. With that setup, the motor spins at around 70,000 rpm UNDER LOAD with a FDR of 11.42:1. I get over 45 mph with that setup. Only problem is that I have MAJOR torque steer. If I gun it, it'll steer massively to the right while spinning out all four tires with traction compound on carpet. Now, this isn't even my fastest setup - and the motor is only a 400 size motor!!! This is the SHORTEST gearing I can get!!! So, the slowest I can get the car to go is 45!!!!
A Lehner 1920 5 turn goes nuts - it "only" spins at around 40,000 rpm with 6 cells, but it has way more torque. If I hold down the car on carpet, all four tires will smoke in about 3-4 seconds! You can gear this motor so it goes anywhere from 30 mph and up. I'm pretty sure it will go 60 easily with 6 cells - but you probably can't gear it tall enough to do so. So, if you can gear it 5:1, you'll go over 50 while spinning out all the way to that speed.
I've NEVER seen a brushed TC literally LAUNCH like a TC with a brushless. I've seen 7, 8, 9 turn TCs but they "spool" up to speed. These TCs with brushless and good batteries and controller combo literally launch/shoot/slingshot/etc.
With a brushless motor this hot, you have to make sure you have a really nice controller - probably in the 300 dollar range.

What if you run less cells car would be easier to drive?

optiman which motor should i get for my tc3 team factory car........i want insane speed using maybey 7 cell batteries and what controller should i get....i already have a lehner basic 5300,xl 5000 lehner, c40-6turn motor, and a novak.......the controllers i use are the 12.97 fwe shultze and master competition contoller....
Optima,
Could you pls explain why you have major torque steer with a 1515 or 1920 ?
I understand the 1515 is a small motor that spin high and that it might be related to the rotating mass (shaft cars seems to be prone to that effect), but if you could ellaborate, it would be well appreciated.
Also, did you experienced anything similar with your Lehner basic motor ?
BTW, did you had any failure or problems related to the fact you use very high perf engine ? (I heard stuff about diff gear having to be boiled...)
Thks again

Xman - you are nuts! (like me) the only thing you have left is to go with a 1920 5 turn if you want faster speed using only 7 cells. You know how much faster the C40 6 is than the 5300? Well, imagine this motor being that much more powerful than then the C40 6 turn. Now, the 1920 5 doesn't spin faster, but it has like 2x more torque so you can put a lot larger pinion gear to it. The 1515 6 turn is a LOT faster than the C40 6 turn, but doesn't have that much torque so the top speed is barely faster than a C40 6 turn.
You know what you need to do it go up in voltage. A Basic 5300 becomes a totally insane animal on 12 cells. The 5000 is too big for a TC3. Instead of spending more money on faster motors, spend more money on getting Lipos or something. I've found a lot better performance by going with 11.1 volts (approx 9 cells) and using the motors I already have. It doesn't seem like budget is too huge an issue so I would say get better/more batteries. Besides, a 6000 mah 11.1 volt pack is lighter than a 3300 6 cells pack!
When a motor is inline with the car, as the motor revs in one direction, there is an equal and opposite force. This opposite force will put more weight on the right or left side depending on the location and rev of the motor. As there is more weight on one side, the car will steer toward one direction. This doesn't happen on the XXX-S becuase the motor is perpendicular to hte axis of hte car. With stock motors, there isn't much difference, but the more powerful the motor, the more the effect. Either that, or my car is tweaked! (I do have a tweak board, etc. and it's all neutral though)

Optimaman, so i should get the 1920-5 turn is that better than the c40-6 turn motor and will i get more top speed out of it???????????????Where is the best place to buy it????????????????

I got it a while ago when RumRunners used to sell it. I had mine specially ordered from Germany with 1/8 inch shaft. You can probably get it from Chris at Fine Design - but be prepared to WAIT! It took mine like 3 months!!!
