I was wondering what gearing I should use for in my TC3 with a Novak Brushless? Thanks. 5800 model.

Try 33 pinion and 96 spur.

I run a final ratio of 6.86 in my xxx-s for racing and a 7.16 for play/testing.

I notice dthe 5800 runs very hot in the tc3 so i had to gear it lower. I had it running about a gear ration of 8-9 to keep it cooler.

I am running the SS system with the stock spur gear, forget what size it is...but 72t seems to be in my memory. I ran that with a 24t pinion gear.

I run 19 tooth with the stock 72 spur gear on a Hacher C40 7.
I do not thermal, and the motor and controller stay below 140 degrees.
Plenty fast enough on the top end (about 45 mph, not GPS verified).

Rotary Rocket: If your TC3 has an internal ratio of 2.5:1 which I do believe it does. Your FDR is about 9.5:1 With a c40 7s with 7.2 volts and standard 2.5 inch tires, you'll top out at around 33-34 mph. I'm not here to bash or argue with you, just what my calculations show. Gearing with a FDR of closer to 6:1 will get you to 45 mph or so.

I am sure you are correct Optimaman. I was just estimating my speed, and it seems I was being very optimistic. :p

Forgot to mention but i figure my TC3 goes just slightly faster than my Nitro RS4 RTR3. I believe the topspeed on the RS4 was about 29-30mph...so the TC3 is liley running about 30-32.

thanks i started with 23/90 and was able to go up o a 24/90 for PL racing. to find the final ratio on the xxx-s you do spur/pinion x 1.83
