I am running a Schulze 18.97 with a Hacker C-50 Maxx motor in my E-Maxx. I am running 18/68 gearing with 14 cells. Mostly plastic truck with alu skids. What temps should I be getting with this setup and what is a safe limit? On the only run with 18/68 gearing I got 120F on the motor and 130F on the controller. Is this too hot? Also how fast should I be going? On 18/72 I was getting 34.4 mph which doesn't seem right as Hacker says it should be about 41 on 12 cells and 18/72. I really appreciate any help!

Temps: 120-130 is great. That's not hot at all. 160-180 then I start calling it hot..

Actually, 3300's get hotter than that coming off the charger!

Questions for you:

How are you running 18/68 gearing? A C50 won't fit with those gears, will it? I guess it must, huh? I run a 66 spur and the smallest pinion that works is a 20. I'm surprised a 68 makes enough difference to drop to an 18.

Anyway, I race with C50 at 20/66 in first gear, 12 good 3300 cells. I haven't clocked it, don't know the speeds.

If you want 40+mph, try gearing up more... maybe 20 or 21/68

I'm glad to know I'm not in danger of roasting anything! With the motor against the tranny case, the 18/68 mesh is perfect. The only other pinion I have is 23T, but I do have 72T, 68T, 66T, and 64T spurs. ZThanks for the help!! :)

I don't know about timing or frequency, but it is set on the hard-soft profile.
