You have to consider what battery you want to run, and what you will do with the truck, and choose the motor based on that.

Keep in mind the larger can motors normally used with a maxx pull more amps and require more expensive controllers, so you may want to stay with a smaller motor than a E would like.

Common around here for 1/10 scale:
Novak SS
Hacker 40 series
Lehner Basics

Kontronik Fun series
Himax (less $$)
Aveox RC7 or 1406
lots more...

How much are you willing to spend? that's a big factor...

Could it be possible to put two packs instead of one

You can use 2 packs if you want, but you shouldn't have to if you go with a motor with a higher rpm per volt than what is used in an E.

If your Stampede has stock drivetrain parts, don't try to put an Emaxx setup in it. You can put as much power and batteries as you want in it, but it will have to have aftermarket axles, cvds, etc...

If you really want extreme... and 14.4 volt battery, try something like a Hacker B50 11s or 12s that's similar to a Emaxx motor...

Or you could go with 6 or 7 cells and a lower turn motor... like a B50 6s or 7s for the same 50,000 rpm range as a 12s on 14.4 volts

i ran a 8s in my rustler, with aluminum idlers, and mip CVD's, and was still breaking the spider gears in the diff on just 8 cells.
if it's a stock tranny, a 5300 will be able to strip idlers, and break the yokes.
but once you get it where it don't break, it's alot of fun :)
