View Full Version : Steve Pond, I have a couple ideas for RCCA articles.

I was recently surfing the net and realized that a 1/5 car can do burnouts with smoke because of the tire size and weight. Since they have independant front and rear brakes you can mix the servos to lock the fronts and do a burnout. I was thinking it would be really cool and so would a lot of other people if you guys could do an article on 1/5 drifting and burnouts. Take one of the lesser 1/5's that RCCA has and dedicate it souly to this. I am sure it would get a lot of attention and be really sick.
My second idea is to do a Project Tamiya TLT-1, and make it a much better rock crawler.

i'd like to read both of those articles.
1/5 scale or not i'd like to see an article on drifting driving and equipment.

I might just do that myself! Sounds like an awesome idea! :D

I thought an article on 1/5 drifting would be the coolest because unlike most 1/10's, they handle much more like real cars. They can also leave burnout strips and make a lot of smoke from the tires, not exaust. :D

Ehh, I still think he should get his 101.4 mph super nitro another go, (Mr. Pond still has this car in the RCCA basement of retired project cars) just to get it to 112. Ya know, to beat the electric record. 11 mph more is quite a feat though, I think it would prove for a great two part article, again! ( I even have suggestions as to get a few more mph out of it as do many other members...)
Or once maxx thrasher gets done with his woody maxx, that would be an excellent photo shoot article. Could be a two in one; ow to shoot quality photos, and a highlight on a truely unique reader's ride.
Or a really cool article would be a tour of a major RC manufacturer and how they produce the parts, or how a car is born, from drawing to production...

I like Interstate's idea of a behind the scenes type article. Also, the project TLT-1. I just ordered one. Anyone have suggestions on what hopups I should get before I start putting it together? :D

That's a pretty good idea Will. Who'd you steal it from :p Just kidding.
Just they need to make video of it. That would be rather neato.

How about a 4 engine 4 wheel drive 1 wheel driven by one engine cantilevered suspension rock crawler? Or a amphibian vehicle? Or a car that can fly?..on purpose. or or or?

why not forget diffs, drive shafts, and drivetrains and just put a motor on each wheel inside the hub of say ... some monster truck wheels?
really though, i would like to see a drifting article.

Anyone think Steve or and RCCA editor is reading this? It'd be really interesting if they were even entertaining the thought of doing something we thought of...
It would be nice if they could formally prove that forced induction, nitrous, or any other "artificial" power does not work for our little engines.

Even a dyno test of a Stock engine vs. one with that supercharger on it would be fine for me. Id like to see some articles on the little talked about Rc racing like drag racing and truck pulling. Theres info about them out now, butI think some in depth looks at the cars and classes would be cool.

I think it would be cool to have a behind the scenes artical on the RCCA crew. I remember in one of my old mags that they showed their real cars in Chris' Backlot once, I think that would be fun to look at again. :D I must say, Chris' car was awesome....... :p
