High-grade steel is good, too. Heavier than Ti, but cheap and very strong.

Yeah, but all I need is at least one of those tiny screws, not the whole set.
Any ideas?

I've got a socket-head screw that'll work fine, I just tested it on my LST. It won't match the others (it's got the black-oxide finish) but it'll get you back on the road.
From what I can tell it's a 2mm thread diameter and is 7mm in length. If you don't think you can find a screw locally, shoot me an e-mail at doesgo@slapmafro.com and I'll mail this one to you.

Thank you doesgo. I'll let you know soon.
Another question: I just received new clutch springs and shoes today. What's the best way to get those darn things on?? I tried using a screwdriver to flex the spring back, but the tip of the spring hits the shaft. I will have to flex the spring back before sliding the shoe onto the pin, but then it's heck to get the spring's hole lined up with the pin.
Did that make sense?
Any tips??

it made sense...
use an allen key to keep the spring in position in the clutch shoes..
slide one end on the clutch shoe onto the flywheel, while slidding out the allen key..
flex the clutch spring past the crank as you push the clutch shoe further on..
then fley the clutch spring past the clutch nut, futher removing the aleen key from the clutch shoe..
now did that make sense???

Ok where are we finding the screw set for this truck ????
I want a high grade set up graded that are longer so that I can use the lock nuts on everything like the newer ones have..
That mine does not and Losi does nothing about!!!
Also the clutch spring issue
There is a tool that horizon has that makes this process a ton easier I have heard ...
Check out there site or I have the part number at home..
I'll post it on here when I get back monday....

YEsterday I was bashing my truck when all of a sudden it would just rev and barley move, I will be installing X_RAY clutch today but read on another forum that something in the tranny might have broke? I have had an issue with the truck n ot wanting to wheelie. WHen I take off it seems like it just doesn't move like it should? Help please I need to know what parts I need to get if it id in the tranny. I have to say I love this truck.

I was wondering where my wheelies were, too. So I leaned out the LSN and HSN a little and my wheelies apeared. Just keep an eye on the smoke and temps.
I know some LST owners that have their slipper set near fully tight. Lot's of wheelies, but bad on drivetrain.

Yep, I've got the Sportwerks clutch tool and exhaust spring tool, both are great. SH also sells the same clutch tool at a lower cost, but it might be easier to get the Sportwerks version from Horizon.
I never really had a big problem with exhaust springs and was hesitant to buy that tool, but I love it and I'm glad I bought it.

Hey gonna get that Novarossi 28 but need to sell my Mach 26? Anyone intersted? I know i am not supposed to say that here but this seems to be the aread where people wuold be intersted in that? Its got about 8-10 tanks not even really totally through break in? Heat cycled and I KNOW how to do it. Took my sweet time! New head and head button.(the reason is because i scratched the old head when tryiong to put a hole in the body? Then it was just a small scratch so i decided to try and make it polished allum? BIG MISTAKE! Dont try it!) Anyway got a new head and button on ebay for 20 dollars! Has only been on ebgine for 2 tanks. NEver ran more then 2 tanks at a time. And that was even done like once! ALWAYS used after run, and 20% sidewinder. $100.00 with free 3 day UPS shipping! Or B/O? Let me know. Looks brand new! Running really strong and better every time it is used! Starts rihgt up!

Ha ha... so true.
I was looking forward to getting the HPI Jeep body for my LST, but the new F650 body looks even nicer, and it looks like it will fit better (a bit larger). Part #PRO319300
Man, I snapped both arms and the hub carrier yesterday. High gear, WOT, huge rock... crack! The only thing holding the wheel on was the Lunsford titanium turnbuckle. It was unscathed!

I took the reverse servo out of my truck. I did not need to take the reverse gears? I guess i could to save alittle weight but whatever? Also DO NOT GET A WERKS CLUTCH! I was in the market for a clutch and thought I wanted the best like I do with everythig else? I was told by a guy trying to sell one not to bother as it would be eaten up by a monster truck? Maybe not the Maxx or Revo but a Big Block LST for sure! He said it would eat the shoes up fast! He said to definiltey go with alluminum? I mean i doubt he would say that unless it was true? Now instead of him making $70.00 on me he was now making nothing as he did not have the Allum shoes i wanted? I figured if I was going with Allum shoes i was gonna get that Nova Adjustable Allum LST shoes on ebay! I got them now. Speaking of clutch shoes i have a question. I have Allum shoes in m LST now. I had bought a set of Mugen 1.0 and had a problem? I mean it was a dumb mistake but I wanted to know if any of you ahve changed the springs in your LST and if you are using Allum shoes then what springs are you using? Teh Mugen 1.0 springs I was told to get for the LST? But they are shorter then the stock LST springs? Does that matter? Can anyone reccomend springs for me to use with my LST clutch but now using Allum shoes? I woud really like the help here? Doe sit matter that the Mugen springs are shorter?
Monsterbrad
02-06-2005, 08:57 PM
I have heard mixed things about aluminum shoes!
The Mugen ones are good!
I tried a pair on my GS SUT and I fried them in 5 tanks.
They were all melted and stuff.
I like the composit shoes from ofna or mugen with 1.0 springs
Not to say that aluminum shoes might not work its all opinion here
Colt M4
02-06-2005, 09:34 PM
Don't aluminum shoes really wear down your clutch bell. Like twice as quick as composite. I use mugen composite with 1.0 springs. If I go aluminum should I go mugen or nova?

Hey Monsterbrad,
Maby you can help me I'm kinda of stuck on 2 trucks and dont know what one to get and I see that you have the both of them so figured you can help me choose. I want a LSP or a LST but dont konw what one to get. I will be raceing both but I'm also going to get a buggy(Jammin X-1 CR) to race. Do you think I should just get the LST since the handleing of the LSP will be similar to a buggy and the handling of the LST would be alot different then a buggy/LSP so I might be alittle funner to drive. I so confused! I know the LSP will be faster on track then the LST but is it that much faster when the LST is set-up for race? Plus I would think it would be alittle funner to drive being that it can rip wheelies and stuff like that. I'm more of a track guy tho, not much for bashin, I get bord quick when goofing off in the yard!
Thanks

Hey all I can tell you having both trucks and all is you have a very hard decision to make.
The LST is a true monster truck and is a blast to drive.
The LSP is an awesome all around racer and that but not that much of a monster truck some say it is but I am not going to say that.
The LST is a great truck I would say get that for a basher kinda racer and get the buggy for racing thats what they are for.
I race my LSP only it does not see the street.
As far a 1/8 scale buggies I would go with the Mayhem work with it a little and they are great from what I am hearing. plus they share diffs with the LST.
Just depends on what you are planning to do with these 2 trucks.
They are completely different animals as far as I am concerned.
LSP= Full Race
LST= Hell of a nice basher maybe a little race but just a blast to drive!
private message me if you need me to go into it more.
Not to talk the LST down at all but the LSP and the LST hands down on the track LSP its just a better racer.
thats just my take on it.

Colt, it's a Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium Pro. It's a truggy that was originally built as a truggy rather than a converted buggy like the SUT. It shares many parts with the Lightning buggy, but not as many as most truggies do with their buggy counterpart.

Enjoie, I'm using Mugen aluminum shoes and 1.1 springs on my LST and I like it quite a bit. I might switch to 1.0 springs to drop the stall speed a little, but overall the 1.1s are pretty good. Definitely better than stock!

I need a little help here guys. A guy I work with just bought a LST. His front tie rods ends keep poping out when making turns. He is just braking it in and not doing anything other then driving it 1/4-1/2 throttle on flat ground. Is this a common issue with this trucks? Never heard of that particular problem before. There was a problem with early trucks where the ball ends were stripping from the a-arms but they started putting nuts on them and that solved the problem.Maybe they'
re worn from removing and replacing.Maybe buy some replacement ends and try them to see if they don't work better.

ENJOiE, can you explain exactly how to take out the reversing system? did you have to lock it in foreward somehow? I emailed Adam Drake sbout his transmission inside the XRC issue 111, and he said it was a prototype foreward only tranmission. I can't wait till that comes out but till then I would like to do what you did. Thanks in advance for your or anyone who reads this help. dag32

Keith oh
The rod end thing!
Here is how it goes.
After they have blown off a few times the plastic gets stretched out and the only way to solve the problem is to get new ones.
On the first run LST's like mine none of the rods or anything have lock nuts on them so they work there way lose then have slop and some have broken outa the plastic mine have not cause i watch them and tighten them as needed seeing how I have the first version but I fixed the problem with lock nuts on the rear the front I have had no problems with.

Question: Why are so many of you removing the reverse from your LSTs? The only reason I can think of is for racing.
I ask because I use my reverse a lot! I do a lot of technical driving and crawling. In fact. I'll bet my LST is in low gear 80% of the time.
Oh also, if you're thinking of driving your LSTs in the snow, take my advice and don't do it! I had a blast in my back yard. 3 inches of new powder! Woo hoo! However, the entire truck was encased in ice and snow, and now I'm tearing the entire thing apart. I had water in the tranny, in the carb, in the clutch and in the slipper. Probably in the diffs as well.
It was fun, but not worth it! :)
i am also using aluminum clutch (nova w/o any added weight) shoes and mugen 1.0 springs.. they grab great, but do require a little maintenance.. after 15-20 tanks of fuel, the aluminum shoes start to mushroom (the worn edges start to fold over). its not really a big deal. you just remove the clutch bell, pull the shoes off and clean up the edges.. then your back in buinsess.. btw, while the bell is off, clean it the inside with a bit of fine sandpaper to remove any glazing (oil residue, dirt, aluminum dust and basically anything else thats cooked onto it)
i never had any problems with the bell wearing-out.. actually, the inside is in better condition than the outside.. prolly do to the fact the bell is hardened steel and the shoes are softer aluminum..

What aluminum Clutch shoes should i get if i want aluminum ones?

Monsterbrad
02-09-2005, 05:10 PM
The aluminum ones I tried just burred up and made a mess of the clutch bell.
I have had better luck with good composit ones from mugen of ofna for that matter.
1.0 springs are good for the most part but .9 are good also.
Just depends on what kinda stall speed you want.
more rpm before the clutch engages or less!

If complete tunability (I run 2 Carbon and 2 Rulon shoes) and almost 4 gallons now with those shoes sounds good to you then go with the Werks clutch. I did shim the clutchbell as you can see in my first picture and I dremeled the top plate slightly to make it fit.

How come you had to dremel the top plate to make it fit? Isn't it the clutch size as the stock one because I do not want to be dremeling a brand new hard andozied chassis.

It's a very tiny bit just to ensure there is no rubbing. It was so minor I did it to my Carbon with a little sanding drum on the dremel.

U might be able to put a shim behind the crush cone on the flywheel to get the fly wheel away from the engine more.
I am not sure though
THe dremel is a great tool though don't be afraid of it.
Just take your time.
Or go with composit shoes and 1.0 springs they work great as well.
I had over a gallon on the composit shoes!
not exactly sure what your trying to accomplish. but you can put a shim behing the flywheel top move it out. but in doing so, you may misalighn the cd to spur mesh..

Well my first batch engine did not have the washer on it when I rebuilt it and my newer engine that I got off ebay had the washer!
Make sire that you look really really close at the rod where it connects to the crank thats where the little washer will be and sometimes it can be over looked!
Glad that we could help out with your decision now all we have to do is get you converted to an all BIG BLOCK collection and you will be set.

I think thats it? I know I am missing something? Anyway thats the most of it! Its bad right!!! NONONO!! Well yes it is awesome but I am having some touble fellas!!!
Now I put it together after getting the parts. I started it right up and when i pull the trigger it moves or well jumps forward as it should at first and then seems to be slipping somewhere? Menaing it moves and then seems like the clutch or tranny is slipping and the gears spin faster along with a higher RPM but it isa not moving anywhere? Its not hitting second? Not even close? It does about 10 MPH if that? It should be doing closer to 50? It jumps with authority at first! Almost a wheelie but the fades very fast?
PLEASE PELASE PLEASE HELP ME!!! I need some suggestions? I checked the clutch, tranny diffs and everything but still no better? To me it seems like the cutch is lsipping somehow but I pu all the priginal stuff in it to check ad it still does it? The only diffrence would have been the new engine but that cant be it rihgt? I have the LST wich I am posting pics of. I am having some serious problems rihgt now? I finally got it together and when i give it gas it jumps at first like it should and then immediatley slips like the clutch is not grabbing or somethign is slipping somewhere? Basically I pull the trigger and it is fine for like a second and gets to about 8 MPH as it should and the all of a suddne the engine keeps reving higher but it starts to slow down and then slips? Its like it is not cathching somewhere?
I took it to the LHS and he could not figure it out? To me it seems like the clutch? So i took out the new clutch parts and replaced it with the od ones? So now the ONLY diffrence between the truck when it worked FLAWLESSLY and now is the engine? And the engine is running better then good! So it makes no sense? It worked fine before I took it apart to add alot of hop ups to? But the Hop Ups all hae nothing to do with the drivetrain except the clutch shoes and springs? But I changed them back to the original ones that i used when it worked fine and the same thign happened?
I AM VERY DESPERATE ADN AM PEN ATO SUGGESTIONS!!!! ANYONE PLEASE PELASE HELP!!!! Email me anytime and please email me if you have an idea?

ACTUALLY its doing this: When you give it gas it seems to be reaching its top speed but the top speed is about 15 MPH? Almost like it is geared VERY high pr something? I checked everything? The slipper is new, the clutch is new, and I just cannot get it? I called LOsi and they said its eighter the tranny slipping or the one way bearing in the 2 speed? Thats the ONLY thing I have not replaced or rebuilt? I hope thats it? Bercause more then slipping now it seems that it is hitting its top speed and its top speed is VERY low! Thats the best way to explain it? If you rev the engine almost all the way it seems to slip alittle but if you hae it half throttle or less it is just revving VERY hihg, and grabbing but not moving to fast? I mean its got power though? I tried to run it up a cinder block type ledge and it ripped right up it easily? I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND!@!!!! I mean if it were the one way wouldn't it not be woring at all? I am soooo confused??? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

the obvious..
is the two speed adjusted correctly? may want to reset is just to make sure.
is the ball bearing inside the 2spd clutch housing good? i know mine went bad very quick.. also, resurface the clutch shoes with some fine sand paper and remove any oils that may have accumulated in there.
are you using smaller max-sized tires? if so, it will reduce your top speed quite a bit, expecially if your in "low" gear
tighten down your slipper clutch fully, just to eliminate that as a cause for the slipping.. if its not the problem, reset it to factory specs..
dissasembly every thing on that main shaft and reassemble it to factory specs. maybe theres a shim/washer missing some where preventing things from alighning properlly..
check all your drive shafts. make sure they are all in good working condition and spinning freely (but still rotating the trans)..
check and make sure your clutch (inside your clutch bell) isn't slipping and that there isn't any oil build-up in there..
drive the truck head-on into a solid object (at very slow speed of course) so it comes to a stop. then hit the gas slowly and see what happens.. if nothing is slipping, the truck should drive up and flip over (or spin the tires if its loos sand).. if it just revs, try to back-track the drive train and see whats not moving/slipping etc..
thats all i can think of at the moment.. ohh ya, did you get your self the aluminum outer diff cases yet? if not, there a must.. the stock plastic cases are JUNK and WILL crack very easy, causing the ring and pinnion to slip..
good luck! nothing worse than have a nice/expensive cruck that you cant enjoy...
Monsterbrad
02-24-2005, 12:39 PM
do all that and make sure
make sure that you don't have a broken drive shaft or 2!

Just stay away from the 40 series rims they are crap!
The new 23mm
I am not sure about those still waiting to hear about them.
RPM wheels are good with the wide maxx option.
Also I have heard that Losi's Zombie tires are really good on all surfaces.
Bow ties are good but they do spin a little on hard packed stuff.
Just don't buy 40 series wheels for this truck especially because of the weight of the truck they will bend super easy.
Good luck with you choice.

I got a quick question...Does anyone know a way get the chrome paint off the rims without messing up the material they are made of?
The reason I ask is when I got my truck the threadlock stuff the use on the driveshafts leaked all down 2 of my rims and stripped the chrome paint! not that I care how it looks all that much, but if they were all black That would be cool. I tried super poly stripper on a busted a-arm that I have and it just soaked it all up! Probably not too good for the plastic. I think I might try some "fast thinner" at work on wednesday unless anyone has a better idea.
Thanks -K

REPORT-Losi "high performance" brake pads Part # LOSB3606
|
I just installed these pads on my truck, I would not consider them "high performance." My braking distance at least doubled on high traction surfaces. The feel is nonexistent-compared the the stock ones. I thought that the pads would increase the modulation but, no, it's just mush. I tried adjusting the end-point on the brake servo-no change that i could notice.
|
Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe one fiber and two metal?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! -K

So the Steel ones work better than the fiber ones?
Monsterbrad
03-04-2005, 04:31 PM
I do not like the brakes on the truck cause they are metal to metal!
I figured that the pads would make the truck stop much better cause the revo had some fantastic brakes on it and it had pads like a real car or truck does and that thing stopped.
Also my MGT stops really really well and has steel pads and the brake disc is fiber they work awesome.
try the new discs that are vented
they might work better
Check over everything and make sure that they are in there correctly I can't see it not stopping as well.
Just does not make any sense!

Yessir, the metal ones are noisy but they work well, some suggestions from my LHS are to replace the rubber piping on the brake linkage with metal pipe. The other guy there reccomended the vertigo ( http://www.vertigoperformance.com/products/LST/0005.html) carbon fiber disk. I don't know what I'm going to do, but whatever it is I'll let you guys know!
metal pipeing on the brake linkage will not improve braking performance.. that will only make the brakes feel "on-off", no modulation...
the stock brakes are fine on the LST.. maybe a little too "grabby", but you can adjust the epa on the radio to compensate for that. you could also use a longer piece of softer fuel tubing over the brake linkage..

I replaced the fuel line on the linkage with a short spring and that helped take away some of the off/on braking feel.

I think that the alluminum castings are a little smaller than the plastic ones so they have some play in them when they are locked into the truck!
I don't think that it will hurt anything but we'll see I am sure that I can shim them also to take that slop outa it!

Hello, I think I have found a fix for the LST drive axle problem. I bought my LST off of some one who didn’t have anything but trouble with it, so he sold it to me and the only problem I found was that the screw on the fuel cap was striped and I sucking air threw the cap (o-ring). So I fixed this problem and on the 2nd tank of fuel I was jumping the LST off a small ramp in my yard and the left front tire just popped right off. I was pissed, in 30 min. I had done broke this awesome truck, this is my first big block and I was having so much fun (Have been running a T-maxx for the past year, also my first RC). So the nearest RC shop is an hour away, I took the broken axel to work and had a guy to tig weld it back together. He said he ran the tungsten out a little welded down threw the cup using a stainless rod. On the first one he got it a little hot and it run threw on the axle side. So I put it in a leath and took a file smoothed it back down so the bearing would slide back up to the cup. Put it back on the truck and it worked perfectly, I then had him do the other three. I have run eight to ten tank threw it and bashed it pretty hard and not broke another one yet, I have jumped off of a gravel pile seven to ten feet high and clipped a curb in a parking lot and they didn’t brake.
I have read almost all of this forum and have a few questions?
1. The Mugen clutch shoes and springs witch ones (part numbers), and what do you have to do to install them.
2. I run in gravel and rocks a lot wear are you all getting the spur gear rear covers?
3. I am farley new to the hobby and don’t have any idea on how to set up the JRXS3 radio, I also bought a JRXS3PRO for my T-Maxx before I bought the LST , is there a web site or book that will go in depth on how to set these radios up. The manuals are good I just need more help.
Thanks,
Christmaxx28
sounds like your truck was one of the first few.. when the lst came out, they had serious axle problems.. the last few batches have been fine (for the most part)..
the manual is the only instruction booklet i know of that explains how to use your radio..
i use the losi spur gear shield and it works fine ($5).. others go for more of the bling bling and get the aluminum shield from ebay ($10 or $15).. they both work just the same...
there are many different options for clutch shoes.. i like the nova racing clutch sheos with mugen 1.1 springs... the mugen shoes are adjustable, just add a set screw (to increase there weight) and it will shift sooner.. there also cheaper (i belive around $15 or so)...

Try teflon kyosho shoes tower has them and so do alot of other places!
I like the mugen composits and the ofna ones too they are all good.

what no one is talking, is everyone broke?
So here is a question? Has anyone taken out there reverse? If so how did you do it. I took out mine and was only able to take out one gear. If I took anymore I would have had to leave the hole in the tranny box and dirt would get in. I also locked the shifting fork so it wouldn't try to go into rev and I took out the servo and bottomed out the screw that was holding the sift arm. Has anyone done it different?

Broke, yes. Broken, yes again. Took my truck to the local BMX track, busted both stock diff cases (destroyed one ring and pinion) and chewed the spur gears in the parking lot. The gear cover and aluminum diff cases are on the way. Mostly on backorder from what my LHS is saying. So I took the time to lube my inner diffs with 120,000wt and re-grease my tranny with better grease. Hope everyone else is having fun though!!!
jeremymoemorris
03-09-2005, 12:26 AM
120,000 wt, wow what is the benifit of that? I am running 7000wt. What difference will I see if I go up in wt. Did you lock out rev yet?
WorldOfNoise
03-09-2005, 10:58 AM
I do a bit of bashing on rocky surfaces the 120,000wt will be almost like having locked diff's. You can climb a 1 foot vertical wall, I've seen it done-not to good for your clutch though. It takes a bit of force to get them to move by hand! My friend has it in his rear diff and it handles more predicable on hard surfaces, well at least when you're on the gas!
For the tranny you can also just glue the shift fork on the tranny to the forward position, yet the shift fork inside will wear on the collar still, I dont think there is an easy way around it. Maybe if you know someone with a MIG they could spot weld the collar inside to be pemanently forward?

World,
What I did to eliminate Rev is take out the main gear(the large single one) and I shimmed the fork to forward only with washers. Works great but there is still a bunch of rotating mass that should be eliminated. Man I wish they would get it together and release the forward only tranny. Currently I am trying to mod my truck a bit and put in a standardard center diff from a 1/8 scale buggy that will be awsome once I get it right. I am just trying to come up with mounting brace that will work so that it can be inline with the other diffs. I will also have to come up with a new way to mount the engine but that should be no problem.

Hey fellas. I have the LST and posted some pics up awhile back. Its pretty sick! Anyway when i first got it I broke a right front shock shaft not really doing anything? I was basically just running it on the beach. So I thought it was a fluke and went out and used that excuse to buy the threaded bodies and the TITANIUM Shafts. Well the truck has about 3 hours or 4 tanks through it now since then and AGAIN I BROKE ANOTHER FRONT SHAFT!!! But this time it was the Tianium one and it even broke in the same place! All the way in the bottom where it screws into that spring retainer! I am getting pissed about this now! IS ANYONE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM!!!! I mean i have not even jumped the thing or flipped it and have broken 2 shatfs just running on the beach! I woudl have to say there is either a preoblem or this is something alot of people are having troubles with! PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!
IF YOU ARE BREAKING SHOCKS SHAFTS LET ME KNOW!!!! I have broken 2 shafts 1 regular and another Titanium within 4 tanks of use!!! NO JUMPING OR FLIPPING!!! I just was running it on the beahc and noticed after some time that the front was slouching! THIS IS PISSING ME OFF!!! I have over 1500.00 invested in this truck! The LST is awesome idea but i am having some troubles with mine? I wish it would woprk without breaking everyday because it is sick! LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE BREAKING SHAFTS!!!

Make sure that all the suspension is free when you have the truck apart without the shock on the truck.
Make sure that you don't over tighten the rod end onto the shaft.
Thats all I can help you with.
My truck did not break anymore shock shafts after that incident.
Just drive shafts left and right but I have the back up truck with me all the time.
If this happens again in the spring I have to say that the LST will find its way onto ebay.
They should re think things before releasing a new truck.
The first batch trucks were great but the shaft thing should have been adressed before they were released!
Oh well its still a great truck but Like always there are better for bashing!

hey guys i have heard lots of reports of broken shock shafts, it is suggested that, when you screw the shaft into the end ball , make sure there is no thread showing at all from the end ball, even if its tight just keep going so there is no visable thread at all. hope it helps.

Hot Racing makes a titanium shaft, I don't know if it will work with the stock valving, it comes with some of their own valves. The ones Losi makes are actually a stock shaft that has been titanium nitride coated. The coating does not increase the strength of the shaft against impacts. What it does do is reduce friction for smoother shock action, and decrese the chances that the shaft will get scratched.

I think you should probaly call Bill at team losi most like he will send you a new one. Besides that check the suspension for binds.

Hey guys! Another proud new LST owner here. I've had my truck for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it! It's crazy fast, and impressive durable. I don't think it'll take the punishment my MGT does, but it does quite well. Right now my LST is down for the count with a broken lower arm. Oh well..we should get more in Tuesday I think. I've toasted a few front diff cases...damn those strong brakes. I really need to get that racing brake setup so that I don't torque on that front diff so hard. Hopefully the aluminum diff housing that I have on order will help solve the problem as well. Anyways, just thought I'd say hi to everyone. Are there any mods that should be done right away? I've already got a Motorsavers filter and the yellow springs on it. Of course I tossed the AA holder before even starting the truck and put an Rx pack in. Any other important mods?

I've seen this a bunch. If you run AA's the truck will glitch. If you run an Rx pack it usually doesn't. If you haven't bought a reciever pack to power the radio gear then you need to get one. It's somewhat optional on other trucks and 100% MANDATORY on the LST. Four servos and a synthesized reciever pull a fair amount of current (enough to all but kill my 1400 mah reciever pack after 4 tanks). AA's just flat out don't cut it, and they kinda vibrate around. Why Losi even put a AA holder on the truck is beyond me, because I have yet to see an LST that works properly on AA's.

Hmm...that I haven't seen. Probably just a crappy reciever. Did you try an alternate channel? Maybe there's just a lot of electonic noise right around the frequency you're on (65 most likely, I think that's what all LST's come set at from the factory)? Other than that...I don't know. Bad servos have been known to do that, but that's very very rare. You could try unplugging on servo at a time to see if that's the problem. I doubt it is, but it's possible. Most likely it's your reciever, but double check that everything is on the same frequency, that everything is plugged in fully, etc.
If that doesn't solve it then I'm sure JR will help you through it. They have rockin' good customer service, and they stand behind their products. Good luck!

They will not have to work as hard and the batteries will probably do better.

Also remember for you guys that are running a rechargeable pack you have to cycle them a couple times before they work good.
And if you are fast chargin make sure you don't charge them over 1.5 amps at the most with 10-15 millivolts.
THe longer they charge the longer they will last in the truck.

Personally, I have not broken a shock shaft. I have crashed hard at my local bmx track, did tumbles and flips (it was getting dark, and I didn't quite hit the second set straight on, going mach 26.) I thought it would of broken for shure - no, still driveable! :D I've also caught a curb at high speed on a funny angle and destroyed a set of A-arms - still no broken shafts. My friend mind you, smoked a railing pole at the skate park in mid flight and did mange to snap his shock shaft. Along with the A-arms and shock tower.
Things this truck needs:
1. Metal Differential Cases
2. A Gear Cover
3. Reciever Pack
4. Shrink Wrap on the CV's to keep the pins in
5. Loctite on the Transmission Outdrive Set Screws
All in all, I am very happy with this truck. My friend and his brother also bought LST's at the same time as me, they're very satisfied too.
PS: The brakes are NUTTY and will flip the truck on its lid, Although there is something you can do about that!!! http://photos4.flickr.com/6443858_2c2f6aab05_t.jpg (http://photos4.flickr.com/6443858_2c2f6aab05_o.jpg)

Hey guys,
Im thinking of buying a LST but, Ive been hearing shock shafts breaking and this and that. Is that with everyone truck or is it still a great truck?.............FeedBack would be good
hi i raced my lst for the first time at my local race track and broke my shock shaft going over a jump so i have ordered some titanium ones in the hope they will be lasting a bit longer :(

remember that the titanium ones are just coated.
they are not really any stronger.

where did you get that brake set up?????????

The pads are the losi "high performance" and the rotor is vertigo performance. I'm still trying to get it all dailed in, my throttle/brake servo quit and I'm using a JR NES-505 my friend lent me. I don't think it's the same oz/in as the stock one, I couldn't find any spec's on it. The setup works allright, but it will not lock up the tires on dirt. I think I'll try the CF rotor with the metal pads if I find this does not work out.
Has anyone else had the Carb stick open on them? I took my truck to an old midget car short track for some fun today, and the carb stuck open!!! I couldn't even get it closed by hand/pliers. I had to take it to work and use the press on it. Seems to work fine now.

I have noticed that some of the machining for these carbs is a little off causing the card to bind a little but never had one stick on me yet.
The fact that you had to use a press is kinda scary.
Get the Sport Werks carb for the 26.
You will like it!

Anybody running the sway bars yet?
I made mine from my Mayhem, used the links, and re bent the bar to fit the shock tower.
I'm running the sway bars and they work great. Definetly makes a differnece. Truck handles sooo much better. I can be running full throttle down the road, let off the gas and turn the wheels and the truck will turn right around, no problem. Definenlty recommend!!!!

Nope have not tried the sway bars.
I was wondering how those would work on the track for those that race this truck.
so whats the going rate for one of these trucks as a roller no radio gear?
anybody?

Hey guys I just picked up a LST today and I want to set it up for raceing. What kind of setup are you guys that race running and how do you do.
I was thinking of running the 23mm hex with proline bow ties for track. Also what bodies will give me a lower CG than the stock.
Monsterbrad
03-23-2005, 09:05 AM
The Crowd pleazer 2.0 body for the MGT LST and TNX works great on this truck.
Just lower the truck down put different wheels and tires on it I have not heard much about the 23mm ones yet other then they look great.
Good luck with your race set up!
The other guys on here will be able to help more cause I don't race mine.

Thanks bro! I'm looking forward too getting this truck in top race shape! I had a MGT set up for racing I used to wipe up the guys at my track with now I have to do it with the LST. The toughest competition was a Revo but I still handled him with the MGT hopefully the LST can do better!

Are the guys there running the LSP at all (hot bodies truggy)
Its not fare when they race with the Monster trucks.
I have one and think that it sucks for the MGT and LST's to have to compete.
The LST is a cool truck though,,, fast as heck right from the box...

Monsterbrad, that is why I didn't buy one besides the fact I ordered it two months ago and it still isn't here. I got tired of waiting for it and I also thought it would be alot more fun with the LST because it will be a challange to beat a Revo or MGT or any MT for that matter. I felt like I would be cheating by getting the LSP and smoking everyone. That truck in the hand of a novice can win. Now to do that with any of the other MT's it will definately take some skill to have fastest lap times and win! Where I run at they said if their are alot of truggies this year he will put them in their own class because of the advantages they have over MT's. Every I run with either has a MGT,Revo,T-Maxx, or a Savage. I will be the only one racing the LST so I have to represent!

Well I wish you luck cause this truck is a beast for a beater and I have seen a few race but they seem to have there weak spots like any other truck.
I have to say though its a toss up between the LST and my MGT when I run the 2.
I like em both for different reasons.
I was thinking about running all of them on the track just to have fun.
But the LST is still sitting with a brand new Mach in it waiting for the spring to get here.

Anybody know of a better price than 600? :(
I want to get it, but I only have 400 dollars
I'd like to get it as a kit if it comes out, and put a little cheaper radio in it, but I always could sell the stock xs-3
I just don't know what to do

Hey man your get what you pay for with the LST! I'm definately happy with the truck! I comes with a great radio and a solid motor can't complain. If you get anything else just upgrading the radio alone will set you back a few bucks so your a $600 anway! Plus throw in the radio($200.00) your at $800.00. Just wait and save up a little more its worth it!

People are selling them on ebay brand new in box for 500.00. If you get lucky you might find one that just goes for 475.00. You are not going to get much cheaper than that. Look at different hobby shop prices. My LHS sells it for only 550.00.
Monsterbrad
03-23-2005, 05:54 PM
I have not seen it much cheaper than 550 also.
Just watch ebay you will find one.
This truck is worth saving a little more cause it comes so well equipt.
Once you have the truck and its paid for you have a great radio that you can run other vehicles with also.
Just need more recievers!

I was thinking about running the MGT or the LST just for the heck of it.

Cool
well I was over at crc last night in columbus and I have to say there was alot of LST's and REvo's one of which was a BB conversion and I have to say it was just as fast if not faster than this truck.
As usual though I say alot of the LST's breaking things but that is normal when you are racing on a big track like that.
Kinda makes me want to change the suspension and race mine a little :)

any of u guys using those dual batt packs?or just 1400mah ofna is enough?
jmangler1
03-26-2005, 11:42 PM
I was wondering that my self about the batter packs.. How much life are you getting outta one pack. I dont know if my battery wasn't full charged of it just eats batteries up, but mine went fairly fast today! I took out the 2 steering servo's and installed 1 high torque digital servo(210oz), and unhooked the reverse servo. I will see if that halps tommarrow.
I heard the sway bars work great with these trucks!
Monsterbrad
03-27-2005, 12:03 AM
Sway bars help all trucks and cars depending on what you are doing with them.
And yes these trucks do eat bats up like crazy.
Just need a good 5 cell pack under the truck.

What most often breaks on these trucks(The newer ones)
Monsterbrad
03-27-2005, 09:19 AM
Drive shafts and the rear caster blocks.
Sometimes a-arms just depends on how hard you beat the truck.
So far this truck is not known for it's super durability.
Its just a ton of fun to drive!

Just got done braking in the Mach and I must say that this motor is a beast! I can beleave the power that you get out of this thing once it is dialed in! As for durability I beat the !#@$ out of this today on track and broke nothing! I was suprised because I had some mean flipps at high speed! I know Some people had issue's with the first batches, but mine is definately a new batch no washer in the engine and dog bone are fine. I really like this truck! Can't wait to race next week!

Thats what I like to hear that the newer trucks are better.
My buddy has the newer one and has gotten over a gallon on the stock everything without and problems.
But like all things that have a decent amount of power and stress on them time makes things break more.
I just had issues with drive shafts on mine that was pretty much it.
The stock body did not last long and the tires came un glued but other than that the truck is pretty good.
Oh yeah don't run 30% without a head shim also the engine does not like it glow plugs will blow out and the coil can end up in the engine like mine did and trash the piston and sleeve.
One more thing!
after a while take the spur gears off and clean the clutches and the second gear clutches also they will get gunked up and shifting will get shaky!
Make sure you keep us posted on how the racing goes.

I'm running 30% in mine and had no problems yet hopefully I wont have any! Thanks for the advice on cleaning the spur & clutches! I will be raceing on April 10th for sure at a local track. I dont know about anything before that. If this other track by my house opens I will run their. I know a few guys who have the LSP their but other then them guys I shouldnt have a problem. I owned a few trucks including MGT and I really like this truck better. The suspension is great it jumps really good! Turns good and accelerates like a bat out of hell! Holds a tune like a champ. The MGT was sweet too I was fastest last year with it, but I have a better feel when I'm on track with this truck. I can tell I'm going to be faster! Oh yeah these brake are crazy ya tap on them and its like hitting the ejection button! I will keep posted when I do race it!

whats the average life of the mach 26 engine people are getting ???
Monsterbrad
03-27-2005, 10:35 PM
this question on engine life totally depends on the person and what they are doing with the engine and how hot they run it.
I would say 5 gallons on the average but maybe not that many if you are racing the crap outa the engine and running it hot all the time.
These are great engine's cause i like mine alot.
