i'm in the middle of setting up a climate blizzard. which by the way is an incredible little boat, it builds easy and is just overall an awesome boat (shameless plug?). however it's my first electric. my real question is this: i'll be running a blueprinted stock trinity green machine. the dyno readings for this motor are done at 5.0v. but i'll be using 6 cells (7.4v). if the 5v rating for this motor is roughly 21,000 rpm, what can i expect with the extra 2.4v?? my fuller's hardware is on the way and i can't wait to run this thing around the lake at warp 9!!

Hi Boatdoc
You sound really enthusiastic about your new boat. It can run well with a stock motor but, you will not have much power to spare here. Really good cells are needed and a really good esc too. Have you given thought as to what props to use? n.h.schmidt

the guys at climate recommended that i start with an x430 or x432 and go from there. like i said, i'll be on 6 cells when i start out. i'm thinking about bumping up to 8 later. it's ok if this boat isn't super-fast right away, as it's my first outrigger, so i just want to gradually increase the performance. i'd hate to over do it and crash/sink it because i couldn't handle it. just as long as it is faster than the mail...still waiting on the hardware!

Hi Again
the x430 may not provide eneough push to get on plane. Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it . The x432 is a whole lot better. always a good prop. Before you try eight cells on that roar stock motor .Try instead a Trinity Chameleon 2 motor . they have a good rep in boats .They are much faster and run cooler than a Roar Stock motor. I have built many boats for stock mono six cell and have also used the Chameleon motor in some of them. A nice increase in speed and still good runtimes. n.h.schmidt

thanks for the advice. i need all the help i can get with these electrics! my hardware didn't make it here before the holiday so i'm still waiting. i can't wait to get this thing going. thankfully, one of the guys at my LHS is real good with electric power and he's going to help me get set up, he also said he'd see about making a water cooling coil for my motor and i can set up the cooling for the esc. one other question, are the 3300 batteries worth the $$$, or should i stay with something a little lower on the scale?

I got a 2-pack of Orion 3000's for about $50. They make a 2-pack for the E-Maxx monster truck. Sure beats $39 for one pack. Look around, you'll see a few people carry these 2-packs.

i'll have to look into that. even though i can't fit a flat pack into the boat, i may be able to to break the pack and re-build it to fit. basically...i need a 4+2 setup. for some reason my LHS is having trouble getting ahold of sub-c batteries lately, and it's making this process a bit difficult.

I heard when I was at the Toledo show that sub-C nicads are getting fazed out. I guess for one reason or another one manufacturer (can't remember who) has stopped making them for environmental reasons. I guess we're all supposed to go NiMH or LiPoly. I also found these in the regular NiCad:

A speedgem pro cost around the same price as a stock motor on towerhobbies and you can probaly buy a 14 or 13 turn and get good speed.

thanks for the advice guys. i just got my fuller's hardware today, so tomorrow will be a build day for me. i've also got a nitro rigger that needs building so i'll be busy. i'm going to shop around and try to get some top quality cells. i want to do this one right the first time. however, i'm still wondering about my original question...which was, what kind of rpm can i expect out of this motor? if 6 cells is all it can handle, i'll upgrade later and put this one into a 6 cell mono that i want to get in may/june. i'm kind of excited about getting into fast electrics but i don't know much about them...so expect a lot more questions!!!
www.battlepacks.com-- cells i use 2600 dark green cells and are a workhorse at 4.25 apiece. i see Ned Schmidt posted, get the Chameleon pro #2110 at $36.00 and at 33,000 and get some very high silver brushes. your'e torque will go up and rpm also... www.aggressiverctech.com for you silver brushes. The best for cells is to buy loose and that way you can make you're own packs to fit you're situation. once in awhile i don't have room for side by side so i put 2 side by side and one cell facing same direction on the end in super tight place plus packs can help get cg correct.
