I am awaiting my Schulze 18.97 and 1920/8 to hook up to my 14 cell saddle pack of 3300 Sanyos in my Super RS4. She feels mighty heavy but I think it'll be alright.
Recently I was offered a brand new 1930/5 for 190 (!).I was wondering if anyone knows if the 1930/5 will run my controller too hot as it doesn't have any heatsink. Any knowledgeable gurus out there?
I will try my Super on 12 cells, but they are not Sub C , but 4/5 SC. Motor is 1530/9. Overall efficiency should be very high, curve very flat and enough torque to pull 60 mph. I am awaiting the adapters for Serpent tires. I will let you know.
Your setup seems a little bit of overkill IMHO.
I have also 1920/5, on 7 or 8 cells it would be more than enough. Efficiency is not so great.

Thanks for your reply Miha. I spoke with Chris Fine today and he said 12 cells is the max for the 1920/8 and that I should start out with 6 to get used to the power.
Overkill was the whole idea when designing the system. I also chose the super RS4 because it is allegedly a more stable platform with a very durable drivetrain. I also wanted decent run time.
Also, do you think that little motor could pull that heavy car to 60 mph? I am really interested in the results on 12 sc cells.
Cheers,
G
I know what I am talking about ;)
1530 is a little powerhouse and on 12 cells it is also very efficient with flat curve. 1530/6 on 8 cells pulled about 70 mph in a SAW boat.
The car is also light, about 1850 grams ready to run. Big savings by using foam tires (almost half weight of the stock tires).

Foam Tires: Where did you find them?
I understand you know what you're talking about but a boat is a boat. What kind of speed and acceleration are you seeing NOW with your super and on how many cells? Is it comparable to the acceleration of smaller 1/10 touring cars?

gbone: Miha knows what he's talking about. 14 cells with 1 1920 is going to top out at almost 2 horsepower! Now, I know those nitro guys have "2" or "3" horsepower, but that's with much less torque at startup than the electrics. You RS4 is waaayyyy lighter than my emaxx. I put a 1920 with 12 cells into my emaxx and I was doing 45. I would be surprised if you couldn't hit 70-80 mph with that setup! But beware, any car going at that speed will start to float and flip and get carried away by the wind. My XXX-S with the 1920 on "9" cells was going over 65. I would just crash the poor thing over and over again because it would start floating at any imperfection in the road. My speeds are not exxagerations - I've measured those speed with a GPS.

Thanks optimaman. What turn 1920s where you referring to in those instances with 12 and 9 cells models. Did the motors get hot with these setups?
Cheers,
G
The foams are from Enneti
http://www.enneti-tyres.com/
They are 30, 32 and 35 Shore.
I didn't run the car yet, waiting for adapters from Wolfpackradicals.

It was the 1920 FIVE turn! Yeah, I know... insane RPM... The 5 turn is at 6270 rpm/volt so with 12 cells, I could've easily blown the motor. With 11.1 volt LiPolys (like 9 cells) I ran the XXX-S. The motor got warm - but not too badly. It got kinda hot in the emaxx though.
In the XXX-S, I usually broke something before the motor got hot enough!!!

if iam not mistaken the picth of a losi xxxs is 64
Nitro motors, most of them top out about 1.6 hp, modded close to 2 hp. So the BL system should blaze on by by what Optiman says. I'm dying to set one up, but I have to have patients, money factor.
Miha, yep it's me...still got the Castle Creations controller, runs super good on the micro. That car looks awsome, can't wait to hear how it runs, sould handle real good w/ foams.

That's interesting. No stripped gears with a 1920? lol I plan on running a 1920/5 with an 11.1v lipoly(60+ amp capable) I'm wondering if i can stick with 64 pitch gears. Also where can i get a 1920 with the standard 3mm shaft instead of the 4mm?
Thanks,
Keith

xxx-s has 48 pitch gears. The GP may come with 64 but everything else has 48.

hmm anyone run 64? They're quieter too but i don't want to strip them...I know with a 1920 there is that risk but i'm wondering if its going to strip easy...i run a basic 5300 right now with 64 pitch and its fine. I have yet to strip a gear.

Where are you buying the 1930/5 or 1920/8?
