Welcome everyone to the Fourteenth Best Paint Competition!!

The best paint competition will be open for entrees for two weeks and will close at 12:00 AM April 15 at midnight CST.
Restrictions: Music. Paint a guitar, notes, band logos, as long as you can justify it as being “music” then its game.
The best paint competition is an opportunity for people to express their unbounded imaginations on a clear recycled 2 liter coke bottle. With the exception of restricted months, any body may be entered in this competition by any member of RCZone. Each body will be judged based on 3 criteria:

1) Design: How well does the design fit/flow on the body? Is it visually appealing? How are the color choices? Originality does not count, but naturally something that every painter has done will not score as high as something unique and new in skills used or design.
2) Execution: Regardless of how complex or difficult it is, how well is it executed? Are there paint bleeds? Are the lines straight (or correctly curved)? Are their obvious mistakes? Finger prints? How well executed are the fades and other basic painting techniques? etc.
3) Difficulty: How hard was this body to paint? Is it one color? Is the entire thing 5mm checkers with 4 different colors in each square? Are the mask lines through difficult areas of the body (ie, wing mounts or stadium truck beds). It may be 2 colors, but is one marbled? Is one color a candy that requires a special backing technique? This is where experience as a painter helps the most.
The photo and background will not be judged. All that is needed is a clean photo that clearly shows the body. A chassis is not required, the body is being judged.

The winning bodies may appear in Radio Control Car Action!!

RULES for Best Paint:

1) Any body may be submitted to the competition (Truck, buggy, touring car, etc).
2) Any body submitted may NOT appear in another competition.
3) Photo editing the pictures (other than cropping and adjusting brightness/contrast) is highly looked down upon and may result in disqualification.
4) Anyone may enter a body (professional painters are welcome!)
5) Please refrain from insulting bodies in anyway.
6) Must fall within this month's restrictions. (Music)
7) Only 2 entrees per person. 8) Bodies should be painted within the last 4 months.

Each submission must include the following:
Body manufacturer and size.
Paint used.
Masks used (hand or precut)
Inspiration (could be another paint job).
And of course, a body.

This month Yendor will be judging the Best paint competition.

In the following two weeks (April 15 to April 28) we will hold the Fourteenth Street/Race Competition. Each month we will hold a Best Paint and Street/Race competition. If you can’t get your bodies done this month, don’t worry there will be plenty more to come!!

May restrictions:
Best paint: None
Best street/race: None

GOOD LUCK

I appologize for the late start, my internet explorer was not working.

Wow! This must be the sucking sound that Ross Perot talked about. Only this time it's from everyone running outside to drive their cars.

I think who ever decides to enter this comp. will win by default.

Did I miss something...I thought the theme comps were looked down on due to the extreme limiting results it has on other would-be entered bodies? I'm not trying to cause a stink I just know a few guys that are dying to post a few new cars and are just sitting on there hands until a general paint comp adventually comes back :D Is it a theme comp every other time or once every six months or all the time now....color me confused.

Their were several people who enjoyed the challanges of painting a body to meet some restrictions. Also, at least once a week there is a thread started asking for ideas on what to paint.

Every 3rd month will be a themed competition. If participation remains low, i will make them every 6 months.

Nice job yellafella!!!

One question....did you add the TMD after the paint job was complete? It looks like an after thought. If it was you do know you can't enter this body in another competition.

yellafella321

No, i painted this body last month specifically for this competition.

TMD has another special meaning to it as well as it is the song that I share with a very precious friend of mine, so it goes on a lot of things that i do.

Thanks for the compliment.

I know it's a little early to close the competition, but, I'm leaving town for a week in about 45 minutes. Since I'll be out of touch for a while and I doubt there would be any more entries here goes:

Jero - Your car it too old to be considered but it looks very nice.

2nd Place - Sparx - A very nice looking race car. I for one apprecieate all the computer work that goes into making original paint masks. Good job.

1st Place - Congratulations Yellafella - Very creative use of the flag and quite clean for such a complicated masking job.

I just painted a hpi stratus aero 2. I wish i had a camera to post a pic. It has candy red spikes in the front that kind of look like flames, but they aren't supposed to be, the red has airbrushed silver trails, and the rest is black. The red is backed with silver.
